I have a 23 inch Dell monitor... It can display 1920x1080 video...The computer has a TV tuner with a PVR, so I can watch and record shows.

To fit the 1920x1080 video on your screen, do you have to hit the "fit to screen" function?

Well, if you're asking what I think you're asking, yes. In VLC Media Player there's a toggle button to go to full screen and in Arcsoft TotalMedia, which displays the TV signal, there's also a Full Screen option button

I have an older computer so I connect to the monitor using VGA cable. It plays the 1920x1080 vid fine but I have to "shrink" the image to fit my 22" screen.

What do you guys think of this idea? Buying a 32" High Definition TV and connecting it to my computer to play 1920x1080 and 1280x720 videos as well as digital pics. I might also upgrade my computer to one that has HDMI connection. I am currently using a VGA connection and don't think I am getting the best possible image quality.

I frequently use my 50" Plasma as the Monitor for my Mac Book Pro. For downloaded HD Movies etc.
Do you find the images fit nicely on such a large screen? I though anything larger than 32" might diminish the quality of a 1280x720 video.

I use my 47" LED HDTV as a monitor for my Toshiba laptop using a VGA to VGA cable because the laptop lacks an HDMI port. Am very happy with the video quality using a 1920x1080 resolution. At first the image didn't fit the HDTV correctly. Had to go into the HDTV 'settings' which were similar to those on any PC monitor. It had an 'auto correct' feature and once that was clicked on, the image self corrected itself nicely. It works great and basically turned the HDTV into a 'super smart TV' doing everything the laptop does....
