Probably a bit of both…but in the court documents that were recently released in the Dominion Voting case Fox executives and on air personalities were all found to have expressed concern around losing viewers to NewsMax if they stop promoting election denialism.
All main stream media, regardless of political slant are parasites (no offense to parasites). Ethics such as respect of privacy, accuracy, impartiality, integrity, and dare I say it, the truth have been tossed out the window. The media is used by our political leaders as a means of division and control.
Sole support of one mainstream media over the other is simply feeding out of the hand of government, which is what they want.
Disagree. Claiming “both sides do it” ignores the glaring lies and disinformation trafficked by Fox, NewsMax, OAN, etc. There is no comparison between the 2 sides- Fox is the propaganda wing of the GQP.
If you haven't been watching MSNBC and CNN they have spent several years the same as Fox. You just prefer the messaging.
But the reason why Fox found an audience is because of the bias of others.

Im not. But I do see tough times ahead. I see a breakdown of some of the supply chains to more localized production(Mexico). I see a population decrease continuing that will cause economic issues coupled with new automation killing jobs. And not just manufacturing. Chat GPT and AI are the spearheads to kill many customer service and some white collar jobs. As well as communications positions. Its already starting.
The networks are desperate to keep any viewers in the face of mass choice. They are horse and buggys in the face of the internet.
Their death is due to progress.
You should be more worried about what the govts will do in the face of the coming depression than what their dwindling propaganda arms and million dollar talking heads are facing.

We've also underestimated what billionaires who control the media can do, as Murdoch's Jan 6 stories and Musk's control of twitter show.
The rich won't fix systemic issues, they'll just make themselves richer.
Unfortunately I am getting parts of it right. Things like the mass increased homeless problem, increased drug/mental health problems are only symptoms. Wealth inequality is so pronounced. But this time the internet exists and with it increased scrutiny. But what you need to understand is the legacy media(as recently again proven by the corporate biased coverage of the train disaster in East Palestine) are owned by larger corporations now. Independence of news gathering and dissemination is gone ftom mainstream outlets.
Ever notice the lack of exposes of drug companies now? Look at who the advertisers are. When I was watching the Superbowl on a local feed from the net an advertisement from Lockheed Martin looking for "missile assemblers" starting at 16 bucks an hour came on. CNN is getting ready now to cover where they are landing once they are told to.
This is the new reality.
Which is why the other news shows have gotten worse.Fox must be doing something right. Fox is number 1, in the ratings!!

Actual news reporting will never get the kind of ratings lying to your audience and chasing scandal will.
Fox accepts that and has no intention of behaving as a news network, only mimicking the form of one.
The others want to find a way to still do news while also chasing ratings and are slowly rotting from within.
The internet news shows are a mix, trying to find their own niche. Since they are often small scale driven by a single main person, whether or not they actually care about doing news is entirely idiosyncratic.
Dude, take off the rose colored glasses. BOTH sides are as bad and one is no worse than the other.
