Buddy just text me this, this could set a bad precedent if it happens.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/body-rub-centres-covid-19-permanently-close-1.5564036

An Edmonton city councillor wants the city to consider keeping body rub centres closed permanently, even when public health orders allow them to reopen.
Administration is set to bring a report before councillors next month looking at the merits of a five-year exit strategy on licensing body rub centres. Coun. Jon Dziadyk will ask for that report to consider the pros and cons of an expedited timeline.

He said his request is driven by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I'm not judging any opinion on what should happen. I raise the question because I've been talking a lot about what post-COVID Edmonton will look like," Dziadyk said in an interview Saturday.

"I'm wondering if this is the most sensible time to have that serious conversation versus to have them reopen only to have them close permanently some time in the future."

This guy needs to fuck off.

There are 322 works in 32 spas. That is not a lot of ladies. Just leave them alone to work.
Not much to do with the 322 ladies... more so the 10 guys a day these 300 odd ladies see per day... meaning 3000 men a day exposed to potential virus

With contact tracing being as rigorous as it is... 1 dude without a wife or with an agenda will spill the beans... and then imagine the lawsuit and PR nightmare that will follow...

This is why MPs or agencies cannot open before the government green light, it’s way too high risk and 1 fuck up could make national news

“And tonight on the national... CORONAvirus outbreak linked to massage parlour in Mississauga”

Clearly this guy is using Covid as an excuse to shut them down.

I have wondered if this scare might bring back the old peep shows where the customer watches the girl behind glass. If I owned a MP I would have that option available for any nervous clients.
There was that place that started offering drive-thru takeout stopping, so I figure people will get creative.

But strip clubs and the like were losing the battle to internet porn already, I thought. How different is peep Show behind glass to a camgirl?

I'm not sure how the business model would work.

Clearly an attempt to ruin the spas. They’re probably cleaner than he is anyway. Can’t wait til they reopen!

This push to close massage parlours is brought to you by the far-right, prudish conservatism that infects Alberta and much of the prairies. Remember Joy Smith from Manitoba? They are using COVID-19 as an opportunity, plain and simple.

What because of close contact? Then going to the hairdresser or barber is close contact too.

The slim majority on this board should be thrilled. They keep trying to convince us that Covid-19 is the end of the world, is so dangerous that we must social distance for years, and wear PPE like we're going to war every day. It only makes sense to shut down places where bodily fluids are readily exchanged.

Safety first!

And what about licensed massage therapy? Is getting a "happy ending" really going to cause a further pandemic?
Last I looked there is more than just a happy ending vs an RMT. If it was only a massage with a happy ending added then the risk would be similar. There’s a lot more happening that is higher risk.
An RMT and patient can both wear masks. I doubt that will happen in a rub & tug

If the strip clubs and rub joints get closed down their will be a huge influx of shit agencies trying to make a name for themselves.

More than likely the rates would drop, with a lot offering shit service.

But hardly anybody believes me when I warn that the escort industry faces harassment from politicians and LE if any COVID cases are actually linked to them. Here's an example of MPs starting to be harassed without a COVID case being linked to them.
I came to the same conclusion as you in early April. It will only take one to sound all the bells & whistles...wouldn’t want to be an agency owner in this business climate

Indies are still working, some agencies are still open...have not seen anything in the papers about those.

As businesses start to reopen the LE will have no reason to focus on them any more than they have in the past.
