I find these "law enforcement" efforts to be dishonest and without purpose.
Anyone who has driven by the "tracks" during their hours of operation over the years knows that SW activity is a virtual trickle compared to what it was 10 years ago. The rise of the internet, successful incalls, and improved ability to act as an independant (Craigslist, other free advertisement venues) has caused the change, rather than police enforcement. Most of the time, there will be less than 10 girls working the lower track at any one time. Most of these are too horrifying to be doing much business.
When I read that 40 johns were picked up in a fairly short sweep, my first reaction is "bullshit". There just aren't that many SWs out there these days, and not enough "newbies" chasing them to be caught in such numbers. My read on such news is that it's the kind of thing the police can claim without having to back it up and which makes them look like they're doing something.
Secondly, even if the cops are out sweeping for SW johns, I think it is a useless law enforcement exercise. SWs wised up long ago and moved away from the areas where clean cut businesses are trying to operate and they don't frequent residential neighbourhoods where the residents can lay much claim that hookers are bringing the neighbourhood down! Most of the SWs who remain are either welfare mothers trying to make ends meet or crack addicts. No police sweep will ever clean the streets of crack addicts, so long as the lefties on city council don't think you can pick up homeless people or force anyone to receive medical treatment which they obviously need.
In short, while I understand the political reasons for these initiatives, the hypocrisy and deceipt makes me sick.
Perhaps the cops might focus their efforts on better policing in Malvern instead!
