Cineplex account compromised

The hackers are at it again!

Just found out my Cineplex account was hacked, deleted, and my scene card linked to a temporary email. Hackers made off with thousands of my points.
Neither my linked email, nor the scene account itself, show evidence of being compromised, so it appears the problem lies with Cineplex. The only other time my info has been compromised (in this case, my visa info) was when an online site I used got hacked. I suspect it may be the same issue here. Note, that other online site took 6 months to send out a notice to its users about the breach, by which time I had long replaced the compromised credit card. If Cineplex was indeed hacked, I would hope they are a little more on the ball.
For the record, while not admitting responsibility, Cineplex has nonetheless offered to refund my points.

If you have a Cineplex account linked to your scene card, I suggest checking your points history for 2018 to see if there's anything suspicious.

Loyalty points are not worth it anymore IMO. They usually make it difficult to earn anything and you have issues like this. Just get yourself a credit card that gives you cash back.

The majority of value-added cards typically equate to about 1-2% of purchases translated into store points. Sometimes you can earn a bit more. Travel is usually more, and anything like pizza places or coffee shops offering something like buy 6 get next free promo cards, is equivalent to 16.7% off in this case.

But most of the time, you get around 1-2%.

As explorerzip said, just do it as a cash back credit card.

I get about 2% cash back on everything (on average) with my card.

A Scene card isn't a credit card fellas. When I referenced by visa info being hacked, that was for a different issue years back and stands as the only other time any of my personal data has been compromised.
