here, there and everywhere!
I agree with Xarir. The Halloween party was great. Why not book the Christmas party there too? The ladies really seemd to like it, and if it keeps the ladies happy, lots of them will come out and that's what the party is all about right?

A concrete proposal...

OK, this is sad. A measly 4 replies to Thunder`s generous offer to organize a party? Where`s the LOVE, people?!?

I`m going to go out on a limb and suggest that what we need is a concrete proposal. So, here goes... Some think the TERB Christmas party should be held at a SC. Others like the idea of holding it at a private venue à la Hallowe`en party. I say: WHY NOT DO BOTH?!? :D

For this year`s holiday season, let`s have TWO parties -- the first at a SC, the second at a private venue. Here are the details:

***********************************************
2003 TERB Christmas Party
Thursday December 18 @ Treasures

Rationale: Historically, we`ve held our Christmas parties at SCs (see threads from 2001 and 2002), and they`ve always been fun. So, why not carry on the tradition and hold this year`s Christmas party at Treasures? Thursday is the traditional night for TERB parties, so get out your wish lists: Christmas will be coming a week early this year!

2003 TERB New Year`s Party
Sunday December 28 @ a private venue
(perhaps at the same place as where the Hallowe`en party was held?)

Rationale:Judging from the reviews of this year`s Hallowe`en party, having an event at a non-SC location also works wonders for the soul. And Sunday should be a perfect time for our second party (smack in the middle of the lull between Christmas and New Year`s). So, get out your top hat and your dancing shoes: TERBites will be painting the town red on the 28th!

***********************************************

So, that`s the proposal -- discussion for the next 48 hours, please! If there`s support for one or both of the above ideas, I`ll post an official poll in the Lounge on Thursday.

Cheers,

If you get too close to the holidays, before or after, people have family and other commitments. The idea of two parties is good but you might split the attendance, and both will turn out to be lame. Might be better to simply pick a venue, offer an alternative of 3 dates, put it to a vote, and be done with it.

Kathleen was active last year in organizing her party, she may be willing to assist a collective TERB effort if someone takes the lead on finding the venue. Attendance is always greater when you have a list of providers who GUARANTEE they will attend.... girls draw in the guys, #1 rule in the bar business.

If we do a Thursday or weekend evening date, I'll be there.

One or two parties?

I see your point, MM, but I think the 2 party idea could still work out. My thinking is that a SC party and a private venue party are quite different (in terms of atmosphere, etc.), and that those attending one may not necessarily be interested in the other. Also, regardless of the date we choose, there are bound to be people who can't attend the first party -- having two parties increases the chance that they'll be able to attend at least one event...

Nevertheless, if most people feel one party would be better than two, we should follow the will of the majority...

Amen to that, brother! Aurora has offered to help with organizing (thanks, Aurora! :) ) -- any other ladies willing to help out or commit to attending?

Great to hear! Bring some of that fine Atlanta weather with ya!!

Probably the easiest way to organize a party would be to just schedule it at a SC on a Thursday night (Dec. 11 or 18) -- takes relatively little planning and has proven successful in the past. Still, I'm hopeful that more people will step up to the plate and help organize a second event along the lines of this year's Hallowe'en party. Any takers?

Fly in a day earlier and come spend the night at my place. I can make some noodles and pork chops and later on we'll play Battleship! Mother told me that it is okay with her.

I guarantee that you'll end up having more fun with me than at the TERB party. But in any event it is certainly worth the risk, right Muffy?

Thanks all for your support but due to business I will be unable to continue with organization of this party. Such is life.
Maybe one you of the posters can take the lead on this.

Thanks for the offer Ref, but if I fly in early I will do my best to find accommodations with someone younger, cute and with a few more female tendencies.... might be a tough call on that last one though. :D

Say hello to mother for me, I hear she was quite a handsome woman in her day.

To get back on topic, since we are pressed for time and organizers, Treasures on December 11th is probably a good idea. It was popular last year, stick with what works.

Just do it...

Past experience says that it is impossible to please or accommodate everybody. Just pick a time and place and post a poll. I am sure there will be many in attendance. After all it's the TERB Christmas bash! Personally I would choose downtown (guess where)... as I am a TTC guy. I think though that the majority will want Treasures again. Since it unlikely that I will attend if it's at Treasures I will not post the poll. However if enough people step up and say they will attend if at Upper Brass then I will post poll and talk to management there about getting us a discount on the door fee etc. Enough talk already... let's just do it!

Sounds like two solid choices.... Upper Rail or Treasures... would be cool if we could organize car pools or cut a deal with a limo service to shuttle the transportationally challenged who want to attend.
