China competing with GPS and Galileo

It appears that China is developing a competing system to compete with
the american GPS and and the EU Galileo.
It is being reported that China has put 10,000 men on the project, named
Beidou/Compass. The system will be based upon 5 geostationairy satellites
in combination with 30 MEO (Medium Earth Orbit) satellites.
