TD Meloche raised my home insurance rates from 6 and change to 8 and change this year.

When I called them up to ask WTF, they told me that they added this water damage rider. I said, I thought I already have it. They said I had if a pipe burst or a sewer backed up up to 50 grand, but not if I left a window open, or if water came in through the roof, or a foundation wall.

This despite when I signed up with the fuckers they said that I was covered for virtually any calamity.

When I questioned them on that - they just got defensive. So I asked them to send me a list of what I was NOT covered for and they wouldn't do that.

I called 2 other places, but even without the water infiltration rider, they were still more expensive than TD Meloche. Gave up after that and paid them the extra 2 bones.

What pisses me off is:

1. They didn't communicate to me at all that they were adding this additional coverage

2. They didn't tell me that it wasn't there before.

3. They tell you to "read the policy" I've read the policy. I've read the fucking pamphlets that come with the fucking policy. Doesn't mean shit. Your eyes start to glaze over in about 2 minutes.

To me, it's just that the fuckers are looking for additional revenue. Plain and simple as that.

I said the guy on the phone, "you guys told me that this policy covered me for virtually everything. A satalite could crash through my roof and I'm covered for that"

"Oh yeah, you're covered for that" he says.

"But not water damage"

"But not water damage"

"Which seems more likely" I asked.

"I don't make the rules"

I was with TD for my home policy - they were fine, until I tried to cancel - ended up taking almost a year, to sort it out... (I sold the house and moved, hence the cancellation). Ended out OK, just took FOR-EVER

I'm with RBC Insurance at this house, very good to deal with, rates were good, compariable to TD, when I quoteded them out this spring; and since I already bank with RBC, made sense... Moving my auto policy to them, when it comes due, as well.
