Good riddance to him. Here's hoping she will become a Domestic Goddess again soon as she's been looking so devastated lately.

Sad that she was treated poorly by her Mother and then it appears to be similar abusive conduct by her husband.

She's gorgeous and independently wealthy. I wonder how much she will get from Saatchi though.

Seemingly a good defence is a good offence, be photographed grabbing your wife by the throat and nose, and then you file for divorce - saying she didn't stick-up for you!

One has to wonder why she ever married him in the first place, except that he is stinking rich. He's one ugly shrivelled up old dude, so she didn't marry him for his looks.

He has abused her several times in the past and she has as implied as much.

I hate to say it, but she got what she deserved. (And I find her incredibly sexy.)

She had began having an affair with the old shrivelled up dude while her (former) husband was dying of cancer. (Probably before that.) My guess is that Nigella gets around. (And good for her.) But don't feel too sorry for her.

WTF. How I hate this line of thinking that says, "she got what she deserved".

I never said she got what she deserved.

I said he has been abusing her for years and she has stuck with him till now and so I don't feel that sorry for her.

She should have bailed years ago, but she didn't because he has something she wants (money, prestige, success, sure isn't his good looks and charm) and so she accepted his behaviour. Maybe this was the last straw, or maybe just it was how public it was and she feels that she must save face.

But by sticking around over the years of abuse she has green lighted him to continue his behaviour.

People think that they know Nigella (or any other celebrity). You don't. You know what you see on TV (the sexy curvy milf who pours on the sexual innuendo to sell her product). But the fact is, you don't know her. You don't know her real personality. She has stayed married to an abusive shrivelled up ugly prick for years. Why? Obviously he has something she wants and my guess is money.

She comes from money and makes a lot of income so she did not stay with him for his money. Likely reason she stayed with him was that her toxic relationship with her abusive Mother warped her sense of self. I feel sorry for her. Most women don't have their laundry aired in public. Hopefully she lands on her feet as the paparazzi pics show a broken woman.

How do you say, "I never said she got what she deserved."
Ok, poor choice of words on my part.

I'll explain.

I'm saying no-one deserves to take a beating.

But she stayed with a guy who has been abusing her for years. She should have hit the road the first time, or at least given the cops a call and then tried to have him sort things out, but she didn't. When he repeated (which he has several times and she's even joked about it), she should have left him then. She stayed with a guy who thinks it's ok to beat up, or rough up his wife. She allowed it to continue to happen. For whatever reason, she stayed with a wife beater.

She's got money.

But he's got A LOT of money. She is a media celebrity in that she cooks in a sexually suggestive manner. He's got mega dough and travels in elite circles.

I'd be willing to bet that if he was just a "commoner" she would have left him years ago.

She has had an "abusive" past background.
Who knows what type of mental damage she has endured in her early years?

Nigella has a successful career. Does the fact that her husband was wealthy have a play in staying with him -- of course. But, is it the wealth, or the possibly of the sense of security? The Saatchi name?

Women who stay in abusive relationships stay for reasons far deeper than money.

I don't understand how or why they do - but money is not the motivation for abused women to keep trying to make things work....

Fortunately she has money, supportive friends and family so she is in a better position to leave the situation.
