The CFL commish announced the league will expand to at least ten teams in 3-5 years...Where should the CFL expland to?
Used to be a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys...now a commentator on ESPN's NFL program, Gameday, on Sunday mornings. That was his response, last week, when the panel was asked for a Grey Cup prediction.pool said:who's Michael Irvin ?
One of the "tripletts" along with Troy Aikman and Emmit Smith from when the Cowboys won 3 straight Superbowls, a feat that might not ever be repeated, in fact, back to back Superbowls seems unlikely. He had some legal troubles, isn't he a coke head too?pool said:who's Michael Irvin ?
Sorry to correct, but the 'Boys won 3 of 4...not 3 straight. They beat Buffalo in 1993 and 1994, San Fran beat the Chargers in '95, and the 'Boys returned to beat the Steelers in '96.Salisbury_Steak said:One of the "tripletts" along with Troy Aikman and Emmit Smith from when the Cowboys won 3 straight Superbowls, a feat that might not ever be repeated, in fact, back to back Superbowls seems unlikely.
I think the better question here is would people from Detroit support a Windsor CFL team? If a team were put in Windsor, it would be there only because of the population in Detroit...Windsor, itself, is not likely big enough.Speedo said:Would Windsor support the CFL with the Lions just across the river and both the Wolverines and Spartans within an hour's drive?
I was born there, but I have my doubts. Windsor Lancers draw flies (not sure how the Fratmen draw these days...)
I doubt if Detroit would support a Windsor team. If fans in the suburbs are going to head in that direction, they'd stop downtown and watch the woeful Lions. And despite the terrible franchise, fans are loyal and support the team in large numbers.cyberbard said:I think the better question here is would people from Detroit support a Windsor CFL team? It's much harder to support an NHL team than a CFL team. Winnipeg and Regina both have solid football franchises but couldn't support an NHL team.bbking said:One of the teams should be Windsor - big draw from Detroit (Lions have always sucked) City is football crazy and is home to a semi pro team - AKO Fratmen. As for Quebec City - they couldn't even support a Hockey team, a CFL team not a chance.
Now, considering the current state of the NHL, I might argue the statement that Winnipeg couldn't support the Jets. The state of the league made it awfully difficult to stay there, however, I imagine the Jets would still outdraw the southern teams like Atlanta, Carolina and Phoenix in hockey. The problem there is that the NHL business model is completely screwed up...johnhenrygalt said:It's much harder to support an NHL team than a CFL team.
