This company treats it two ways, one is covered by OHIP one is not. Appears as though the more modern newer approach is not covered vs the traditional treatment.

Here
I can only speak from my own experience:

The basic surgery using "standard" lenses is covered by OHIP.

There are all kinds of options which cost extra (sometimes seems like choosing options on a new car): better lenses; blue tinted lenses; special photo imaging and measuring techniques to help select the right lens... and, now, it seems like Herzig is the first to introduce a new technology that no one else in Canada is presently using.

The "standard" surgery (think Toyota or Honda) and lenses do the job quite well. If you have money to spare you can upgrade to a Cadillac, MB or Rolls Royce... but the marginal upgrades are just that: marginal.

When I had mine done I paid extra for blue tinted lenses, the special photo and measuring techniques and astigmatism correction. And I chose Herzig at the time because I thought they were ahead of the pack in experience and technology. Now there are several other clinics that are equally competent and experienced.

And from the research I did, I was satisfied that the blue lenses help with glare when driving at night, which many people have reported. I have had no problems whatsoever. I am very happy with the results.

Good luck... it is a relatively easy procedure that will help your sight tremendously. For me, the "before and after" comparison was like I was living in a darkened room and someone turned on the lights...

I bailed on the idea of Herzig after reading a bevy of on line reviews that weren't all that positive. Do your own due diligence

My local guy in Belleville is a U of T trained specialist and patients come from far and wide to see him. He has a great reputation

All was covered by ohip, but I did spend an extra couple of hundred for upgraded lens and additional pre op test.
Surgery was pain free, unmedicated. These days you can't even call it surgery....half an hour on the slab, then they send you home ten minutes after your done. Should have someone accompany you though

There are pre and post op eye drops for a couple of weeks...and life goes on, till the next eye

It comes down to which lens you choose. standard vs premium. Always ask about your eye conditions. Sometimes you require a
special lens because of how it will sit in the pupil edge. Some doctors will not do certain operations if it requires very thick lenses.

Go to credit valley eye institute or kensington eye institute See Dr Ahmed Ike . he is the best in the business

I'm told that you can get lens replacement surgery that eliminates cataracts and also provides 20/20 vision. I don't know what Herzig offers but Bochner apparently has an excellent rep and does this type of surgery.

Good luck.

The only place that gave me a bad vibe was Herzig. Ophthalmologists, are accountable to the Ontario College of Physicians and surgeons, much like every other MD.. If there's an issue, file a complaint
