This is one of the rare things where the Canadian version is better than the American version. This is mainly due to the bigger budgets that the Americans usually have. The other difference is that most contestants in the Canadian version go for double or nothing at the end of the game, where as most Americans will not take the risk of loosing their winnings.

I also like the Canadian Version better than the American. Maybe it because I like seeing all Toronto landmarks.

+1

I love when people get in , ask to get to some intersection and I actually reconize it.

I also prefer the Canadian version of Worst Driver vs. American , because the American version is more of a game show whereas the Canadian version they actually seem to be trying to make them better drivers.

Maybe it is because the Canadian host looks like a more likable guy. He would be out of place driving a cab in NYC.

It is in 30 countries and originated in the UK. The American Cash Cab will also have a version with a a female cab driver filmed in Chicago.

Controversy

There was some minor controversy regarding two participants in the U.S. version of the Cash Cab, who alleged that certain aspects of the show were staged. According to the participants, the cab did not carry any cash for liability reasons and they were mailed a check a short while after their appearances. They also alleged that, contrary to the portrayal on the show, passengers on the Cash Cab were not randomly selected but actually recruited beforehand. The fares for daytime version were prearranged by the production company before anyone ever boarded the Cash Cab. Despite this controversy, the spirit of the show is relatively intact.

I was leaving a hotel a year or two ago after seeing Indy Jennifer, and saw people just leave the Cash Cab. They were ecstatic, lol.

I like the show. I would hazard to guess that Canadians are more knowledgeable than the average Americans when it comes to the questions, but if the American version is in a big city, there might not be that much of a difference.

I find that I know just about 100% of the answers to the Canadian questions, I know about 98% of the American questions, but the 2% I do not know are real stumpers like:

Which airline company almost missed their maiden voyage because they had no planes?

Answer : Pan Am

Most people would not know the answer to that one.

I was not even aware there was an American version.

I like the show. I get a kick out of the people's reactions when he hits the lights in the roof of the cab.

There are 30 versions in 30 countries, the American version is on ABC at 7:00 pm. to fill an hour slot with Law and Order cost 4 - 5 million dollars an episode. Reality TV like Cash Cab cost probably way less than $50,000. an episode.
