Carson was ‘Harper’s guy’ on Afghan file

This Carson thing is getting scarier by the minute. Harper let the guy into his inner circle even though he admits knowing about his 1980 convictions. But Harper claims he new nothing about his fraud convictions and psychiatric difficulties in 1990.

..."Harper has already admitted he hired Carson knowing about his conviction on two counts of fraud in the early 1980s but learned only this week that he had also been convicted of three counts of fraud and ordered to undergo a psychiatric treatment in 1990.

“Had I known these things, obviously I would not have hired him,” Harper said earlier this week."...

Now it turns out that Carson somehow got our highest security clearance and was the main guy on the Afghan file. If Harpo knew about Carson's convictions in 1980, you've got to wonder how utterly useless he must be to NOT have personally confirmed that the guy was checked out from top to bottom to make sure they knew everything there was to know about his past criminality. And that should've happened before he let Carson past the front door - never mind giving him our top military file while hostilities are still underway. These precautions absolutely must be routine at this level but Harpo and his goons still managed to fuck them up. If anyone is looking for solid evidence of gross incompetence, you don't have to look much farther than this!

You'd better check your facts. I think it was Ignatieff and also Layton at another rally. She was Poli Sc student with no leanings in any directions (until now perhaps).

The Conservatives now know how bad this looks and are backpedalling big time.

At a later press conference in Ottawa, Conservative candidate John Baird said Harper's spokesman Dimitri Soudas is planning on apologizing to Aslam. Contacted earlier Tuesday, Aslam said she hadn't yet heard from Soudas, who has said he was making arrangements for Harper and the student to meet when the campaign next comes through London.

But Baird wouldn't answer repeated questions from reporters about the screening process and why the students were thrown out.

Big difference. The point was that Harper sees fit to throw out a student for having posted a picture of herself with Ignatief, but had a fraudster in his inner circle.

It's going to be interesting when the Conservative keep pushing the mantra that the Canadian voting public #1 issue is the economy. It's changing to trust in politicians. Politicians rank at 9%, just north of used car salesman.
