I ave developed a pretty severe case of carpal tunnel in my left wrist. I would like relief but don't want to go the surgery route unless I have to.

Anyone aware of ways that I can be in less pain? I am currently sleeping with a wrist guard which is helping.

Carpal Tunnel Relief: Injection Initially Better Than Surgery

Better carpal tunnel relief may initially be obtained from a local steroid injection than surgical decompression, according to clinical trial results published in Arthritis and Rheumatism. Carpal tunnel relief was assessed in a group of 101 adults, randomized to receive surgery or a local steroid injection. The study participants had new onset carpal tunnel syndrome which lasted at least 3 months. The group receiving the local steroid injection achieved better carpal tunnel relief than the surgery group at 3 months. At 6 and 12 months, carpal tunnel relief was similar in both groups.

23 years after surgery I will opt for the knife evey time

I used to have carpal tunnel, fixed it with wrist curls and reverse wrist curls in the gym. Supporting the wrist muscles took the strain off the tendon and prevented the rubbing with the arch. YMMV as always though.
Was not the easiest and painfree way, but it worked for me.

Find a Chiropractor who does Active Release Technique (ART) or Graston....high success rate as long as it does not have a double crush component (i.e. crevical radiculopathy)

i had a bad case of tendonitis a few years back.. i did active release therapy combined with acupuncture twice a week for a month, it went away.

funny to find this thread because my tendonitis has started to act up again recently.. unfortunately my amazing therapist is off on mat leave so i'm s.o.l right now!!
