Hi everyone:

I'm 52 years old, working in sales, well educated holding an MBA and a science degree.

After some thought, I'm considering a career change. Becoming a paralegal is one option. Has anyone had any experience with this? How long would it take? Any schools or programs that you would recommend (especially those that grant advanced standing)?

Any information would be appreciated.

Feel free to PM me.

My first thought is become a ticket fighter

Ex cops make more doing that than as a cop $$$$$$$$$$$

Get $200 for doing nothing sometimes such as when the cop does not show and you know full well on minor charges a court delay almost always means the cop will not show so all you do is ask for a delay

It is a joke. For example almost all belt seat tickets can be fought down to no points so every one does. If they had made the charge pointless in the first place no one would fight it and the court would get all the monies instead people gladly pay a ticket fighter to do very little and the fighter gets the monies instead of the courts

Have to work for an agency to learn the trick of the trade I would think

Also incorporating people as lawyers charge 2K for simple incorporation and the actual cost is $350 and less than a day's labor

Smash the lawyers monopoly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Charge!!!!!!!!!!

You've about to embark on a very steep learning curved. You don't seem to have any legal back ground which is not good. I was a practicing paralegal for 15 years as a service strictly for my customers.

The booklet that is given out by the courts on doing your own legal work is a joke. I've seen judgments obtained only to be lost because the plaintiff didn't have the knowledge on how to proceed further.

Proceed with caution because if you foul up badly your client will sue you.

You hold an MBA and a science degree.

Are we your first step in creating a business case, or does this not apply in something as important as a career and life affecting decision?

IIRC, it's a 2 year community college course. You have to be licenced by the Law Society and starting salaries are in the $20-25m range. Still interested?
