After the UN reported that Israel is committing genocide Canada and a few other countries are trying very hard not to acknowledge this as well.
As soon as Canada confirms Israel is committing genocide they are legally bound to end all support for Israel.

And that is very close.

Good on Canada, for finally doing the right thing.
It is the right thing, under the UN imposed condition that elections be held in 2026 by the Palestinian Authority in the new State of Palestine, without the participation or involvement of Hamas.

Canada also called for an immediate mutual ceasefire, release of all the hostages, and disarmament of Gaza.

How all that will be achieved is beyond me...

It is also the right thing that the leaders of Israel go on trial for genocide and reparations be paid for 80 years of illegal occupation.
Whether Hamas has anything to do with the government is up to Palestinians, not Israel or the world.

If Israel can't or won't end the occupation of Palestine then Palestinians must be given the right to vote and the right of return.

Israeli politicians have condemned the decision, with Knesset speaker Amir Ohana describing Starmer as a “modern-day appeaser who chose dishonour.” Itamar Ben Gvir, Israel’s far-right Minister of National Security, said the recognition was a reward for murderers. - CNN

Don't think any of that will be achieved as long as Netanyahu is in power.

“I have a clear message to those leaders recognizing a Palestinian state after the horrific massacre of October 7th: you are giving a massive prize to terror,” Netanyahu said in a statement on Sunday.

The Israeli leader said despite immense pressure, both domestically and internationally, he has prevented the establishment of what he called a “terror state” for years.

“We did so with determination, and with diplomatic wisdom. All the more so, we have doubled Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria — and we will continue on this path,” he said, deploying the term usually used in Israel to refer to the occupied West Bank.

“The response to the latest attempt to force a terror state upon us in the heart of our land will be given after my return from the United States. Wait for it,” Netanyahu added.

Yet you would have Israel participate despited 80 years of illegal occupation, apartheid and genocide.
Why is genocide acceptable to you?

We need to stop listening to the voices of genocide. They all sound like this.

Why do people keep thinking that Hamas is the problem?
As if they caused the 80 year occupation, apartheid or genocide?
France to follow suit shortly.

Looks like US is gonna be very mad.
I wonder if the Cons are gonna have Broofield angle on this. Brookfield was founded by the Bronfmanns and they would be rather against this recognition, although they are not fans of Netanyahu.

or Hamas.

It wasn't the government of Israel that elected Hamas to power shortly after Israel forcefully removed all Jewish Israelis from Gaza in 2005.

Hamas then stopped all following non-rigged elections in Gaza, to ensure they stayed in power.

That said, I feel Netanyahu is responsible for the lack of Israeli control over the Jewish settlers in the West Bank, and the establishment of further Jewish settlements there.

The settlers' aggression against Muslim communities in the West Bank should cease immediately.
