Can you lube mini blinds?

I have some miniblinds in they're maybe about ten years and it feels harder to pull them up these days. Does anyone know if they string can be waxed or maybe some wd40 on the roller may help? I can't find info about this on the net ..only restringing. I can't even find someone in Toronto that sells the string. Thank you

WD40 is not lube, it's solvent.

Plus it would smell.

Best bet would probably be to replace, but failing that, try taking the head of the blind apart and cleaning out the string / locking mechanism. Undoubtedly there is a dust build up over the years which may be fouling the strings.
