Hi everyone,

German Shepherd, 2 years old, in perfect health....owners want to put him down by this upcoming Friday July 25/2014, because they don't want him any more. Want to find him an interim home... I asked Humane Society and they will take him, but the process takes a few weeks, so he's running out of time. I would shelter him myself, but I have no room for him. Any help is greatly appreciated. I admire you, for doing this. He's beautiful ! I would take him in a heartbeat, but you know why I can't. Most of the animals I have, were all saved. I hope he finds a home. Good luck to him and your efforts babe!

How about looking up dog-wanted classifieds.
GSD is easily dogdom's most beloved and valued
breed. No one in their right mind would want to
put to sleep a magnificient guard dog and a legendary
child protector if it is healthy and young.

(I wonder if they would have found a vet to kill a perfectly healthy dog?? I heard about this friend of an ex of mine who would always put his cats down at 11 years of age because he figured that after 11 the cat would start needing veterinary work and it was going to cost him money. But the last time, he couldn't find a vet who would kill a perfectly healthy cat. They all told him to take the cat to a shelter.)

And I can't see why the fuck-tards who owned the dog could not have taken him to a shelter in the first place. You just walk in and hand them the dog and leave.

As much as we hate those owners, they are not nearly as bad as the ones who torture and abuse animals. I have seen cases where the animals are in so much pain, they have to be euthanized immediately. Breaks my heart and if I could turn back time, I would have gone out of my way to take care of them.

Kudos to you and Avamay for a good deed in saving such beautiful animal. It is really amazing someone will be so heartless to think of putting it down.

A much better solution is to call one of the pet rescue organizations. They would much rather take in unwanted pets, foster them and then find a permanent home for them. They thoroughly check out the potential new owners, (it's almost easier to adopt a child than a pet). With want ads, there's no guarantee the new owners won't also want to put the dog down if they decide they don't want it any more.
