TORONTO - You have to be 18 to visit the website for an escort agency busted north of Toronto, but just 14 to work there, police allege.
One of the girls found working at Joedoa agency in Markham was just 14 years old when she started there two years ago -- and her age was no secret to the man now accused of having sex with her and selling her body to men across the GTA, York Regional Police Det.-Const. Thai Truong alleged Friday.
Vice cops started investigating 29-year-old Hon Sing Tsui, who goes by Joe Doa, in March before finding a young woman who said she answered one of Tsui's online ads from China to work as an escort in Canada.
Tsui was arrested and released on a promise to appear in court. Meanwhile, police continued their investigation and learned of a 16-year-old girl who had allegedly worked for Tsui since she was 14, Truong said.
The high school student ran away from her "good family" after having disagreements with her parents "and subsequently needed money," Truong said.
"She got involved in the sex trade (at 14), broke out of her first pimp and then (allegedly) made contact with Doa," Truong said, adding that girl also found Tsui through one of his websites.
Tsui was again arrested Thursday night and faces a long list of charges including procuring a juvenile to become a prostitute, living on the avails of a minor, sexual interference, sexual exploitation and exercising control.
Another woman in her 20s has also come forward and Truong said he believes there are more "victims" who went to Tsui for work.
Under "Joedoa Work Opportunity," on Joedoa.com, the agency was described as "a leading, top quality escort Agency," whose clients are "exclusive, genuine and well groomed business people and top executives who want to spend their free time with an attractive and open minded young Lady."
Hiring criteria includes being "of above average attractiveness ... in good shape and have a nice figure ... witty and intelligent ... perfect manners ... open to no strings relationships ... charming and easy-going ... poised and self-confident ... Drug Free."
"The girls would come to him," Truong said. "This is not your classic guerilla pimp or anything like that...It's all about greed and money."
On bbs.joedoa.com, "Alice" was listed as $350 for one hour, "Yuka" was $230 for 45 minutes and "Crystal" was $150 for 30 minutes.
The agency only catered to the Asian community, Truong said, adding all but one of the girls was Chinese.
"Our attentive staff can also reserve hotels, chauffeur you and can assist you with your choice in escorts for GTA area," Joedoa.com said. "If you are looking for something special such as an elite escort please ask about our 'Members section' where we have a selection of HOT and exclusive Toronto escorts and International escort girls."

The rumor I had heard so far: he kept detailed information of all distinguished clients (spent over $1000)I wonder if the hobbyist phone number is safe with him. His website has been shut down as well.
