Viet Nam had Agent Orange to deal with and evade and ignore. Well it's a little different now with the 2 Bush Oil Wars being waged. Here is the results of these Oil Wars which like Agent Orange of the past are being largely ignored for the most part.

On the plus side of the ledger, as Bush/Cheney will maintain, Halliburton, et al., (the Merchants of Death, as I call them) are having a fantastic year...so they we tell you it's all even to them. You decide......

When our soldiers risked their lives in the Gulf, they never imagined that their children might suffer the consequences--or that their country would turn its back on them.

Here's the rest of the story:........

I thought they had taken steps to ensure that this wouldn't be an issue in the future? You know by ensuring that the vast majoirty of enlisted men and women come from really poor regions and families so no one is going to take notice of stuff like this? Problem with Vietnam and the first Bush tour of Iraq was that real people were affected, people with money and families. Can't have that happening.

Not that the Agent Orange issue has gone away though, not in the US:

nor in Vietnam itself where finally I see the populace has taken action:

Funny how that aspect seems to have slipped people's minds. I must confess it did mine. Up until recently I never really thought about Agent Orange in a Vietnamese context. I suppose because we never hear about anyone except a US Vet. Then a few months back I saw an documentary on the various areas where the defoliant was dropped and how the things have regrown but differently... and then the images of 2nd generation birth defects that still continue to haunt the areas.

Naturally the US still denies that Agent Orange could have had anything to do with these problems. Must be nice to be so good at lying and self rationalizing that you start to believe it for real.
