Anyone else catch George Dubya's "Van Allen Belt" faux pas? Apparently, in a press conference, he said (and I'll paraphrase) the biggest obsticle to getting to Mars was getting past the radiation of the Van Allen Belt.
Problem with this is that we had to do that to get to the Moon in the first place back in the late 60s and 70s for the Apollo missions; and, thus, ressurecting the old conspiracy theory that we have never actually been to the Moon...why was that flag waving with no atmosphere?...why have we not been back since the 70s?...why is NASA 'blacking out' parts of the pictures sent back by Rover (perhaps covering the Chinese flag or something)?...
Then the question becomes...if we haven't been to the Moon, just where has all that research money funded to NASA actually been going?
