At the risk of repeating myself here, not all women like it the same way. So, the key here is to have a few different moves and techniques, and to keep looking for and/or asking for feedback.

I personally like a less gentle approach. More harcore sucking on the nipple (not just the tip of it, but the whole areola area, somewhat like a baby sucking on her/his mom's breast), throw in some bitting and pinching as well. Another variation that I particularly like is to have my nipple pinched between fingers, and then licked, nibbled, and bitten at.

I'm not sure about the blowing breath thing. Certainly does nothing for me, but maybe it does for other women.

You would be advised to tailor your technique to the wants of each women. Some women hate to have their nipples sucked period, as they are so acutely sensitive that even breast feeding is a problem. Other women, can have their nipples sucked to the maximum and still cry for more and more. Most women fall in between those extremes with great variation. You are only doing something wrong if you do not please the woman, and there is always room for improvement although a payed provider may give a false reading, unless you really get to know them and they are candid.
