I visited Rio shortly the last weekend after the carnival. Here is my report.

Non-pro life

I had a Brazilian girlfriend. Hence, I spent most of my time with her. I had the opportunity to see with her the non-pro life, restaurants, beach, bars, etc. Honestly, I liked the non-pro (no prost.) life very much.

Places - I spent most of my time in Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon and Centro. Honestly, Brazil is much better than I imagined. Specially, Ipanema and Leblon, I just fell in love with Ipanema. People you see in Ipanema are mostly good looking locals (cariocas) and some tourist (not many). Lots of people of the beach, sunbathing, playing soccer, volleyball. Cariocas have great bodies, both, men and women. Of course Brazilian women wear the very world famous Brazilian thonge :) :) :) Regarding Copacabana, it is mostly for tourists, locals who sell things and bad boys/girls cariocas.

Carnival parties - Brazilians are happy people, like to party and to kiss. Kissing is an accepted behaviour in their culture. During carnival, they close lots of streets and there are live bands playing Brazilian music. Lots of people, from teenagers to young adults, gather to join the bands, drink beer, vodka, tequila. They dance as well. Some guys touch women's arms, grab them and kiss them. Only some. Not all do this. However, I was impressed since I had never seen this before. The party starts at 10am and finishes at 10pm.

Restaurants - There are lots of nice restaurants in Ipanema and Leblon. It is just a pleasure to have a meal, beer or drink in a restaurant blocks from the beach of Ipanema. The environment/vibe is very nice. Some restaurants have live music. It is relaxing just to sit down there, have a beer and watch people walking by. There are chairs on the street.

Night clubs, pubs, bars - they are so much fun. For example, went to a palace named Rio Scenarium. It was packed. They play Brazilian music. Crowd is for 25-45 ish people aprox. Mostly, local cariocas and only a few tourists. You see normal people here. You will not find the famous Brazilian carnival dancer type. Men trying to hit on women. Lots of kissing and I was impressed with this since where I live it is not common. Where I live it is not easy to kiss women at a regular club. Brazilian women are open to kiss a guy they had never met/seem if they like to guy. BTW, Brazilian women prefer locals, not gringos.

Women non-pro - they look very normal. I did not find the famous Brazilian super curvy carnival dancer type among the non-pro community. There are slim, athletic, etc. They are very very passionate. My ex was very very jealous. If I asked her time for me to be on my own, she would be mad, really mad jealous. This is one of the reasons why we broke up. I was told by a Brazilian male friend that most Brazilian women are like that. They are passionate when they love and when they fight as well.

Termas

Our point of interest :) :) :) Visited 4x4 and Monte Carlo.

I loved 4x4 due to the place, price and quality of women. There, yes, you will see the famous Brazilian super curvy carnival dancer type. Many man made (plastic surgery) breast and asses. I had never seen such big asses that I saw in there. Great atmosphere. Lots of customers and girls. Bar area was crowded. I sessioned with two (Leticia and Samantha). One of them was gorgeous super stunning. Good sessions (not the best I had). All kissed GFE. Some accept anal sex, not all of them. Would I repeat? Hell YES!!!

Monte Carlo

I was a little bit disappointed of this place after visiting 4x4. Quality of women is not the same in my opinion. Environment was kind of depressing and slow. Only 4-5 guys there and 15-20 women approx. I saw only two curvy. Fun girls. One Beyonce look alike, who I chose to session. Curvy, big ass, all natural. Good session. She tried to please me. Did anal with her until she told me she could not take it anymore. Friendly gal, allowed me to take pics of her. Would I repeat MC? Only if I am in the area late at night.

Regarding the cost, I spent 200 dollars which includes cover, drinks and sex. Honestly, in North America I do not think we would ever find a place where you can have the same fun with the same amount of money. In North America, at least where I live, a super hot stunning curvy girl would cost me 300 dollars just for sex 30 mins :( :( :(

In all termas I felt safe.

Bars for pros

Visited Balcony and Barbarella.

Balcony - it is packed at night. It is a restaurant-bar. Chairs on the street. Lots, lots of gringos. Lots, lots of pro-girls. Quality varies. I saw only 3 hot girls. Sessioned with one of them, typical Brazilian curvy type. She was very nice. Had a drink with her, went another place to get some food and off to session. Session was great! Unfortunately I was drunk and I could not enjoy as much as I would if sober. Fell sleep after orgasm (BAD mistake). However, I was lucky with the girl. She stayed all night and did not steal anything. Gave her 150 dollars since I liked the session and she was so nice. Would I repeat? Maybe not.

Barbarellas - I saw one of the most beautiful typical Brazilian curvy type in there. All natural. Beautiful, gorgeous. My favourite. I asked her how much and she said 200 dollars, which is a high price for Brazilian rates. Took her number and wanted to see her the next day since I was tired and drunk at that time. However, I could not see her and I regret it. I will be back though for her, just for her. Other than this gal, I might not go back there.

Safety

Is Rio dangerous? Oh YES! I saw at least three incidents during my stay. All of them in Copacabana. One day, walking around 7pm on Avenida Atlantica (main avenue) I witnessed a robbery. Lots of people were walking on the street. Robbery took place 5 meters from a police station and 3 meters from me! Nobody did anything. I only heard people screaming and two criminals running. It was scary.

Another story, went for food 1 block from balcony, saw a fight between a trans and a Brazilian, 3 others joined the fight. Total duration was 1 hr approx. Lots of screaming and violence. Took place around 2 am. Police never arrived.

There are lots of criminals on the streets. Specially at night. I saw them mostly in Copacabana in Avenida Atlantica and the streets around. There are criminals during the day and even more when it is dark. I would not recommend walking alone or even in a group when it is dark. My recommendation is use a taxi. Even the pro-girls are really afraid of walking. Some told me so. I had to cross streets /jay walk to avoid groups of criminals waiting for their victims.
On the other hand, I always felt safe in Ipanema and Leblon. I also felt safe using metro. I used it between 10am and 10pm.

Regarding the police, not even the Brazilians trust the police.

I honestly, do not know how Brazil will deal with criminals during the world cup and the olympics. Unless they use military force to patrol. My ex told me that 4 years ago the police and military force took the most dangerous areas (favelas). They had 4 days of war. Nobody was allowed to go out at any time. Scary.
My recommendation, stay away from any trouble, use your gut feelings, stay alert, do not walk in Copacabana when it is dark.

Prices

Rio is expensive, yes. Cost for good restaurants, accommodation and taxis is about the same as Noth America. However, I find that alcohol and pro-fun is cheaper :) :) :) Examples, a beer on the beach is 1 dollar, pro-girl is between 50-200 dollars. Where I live, beers cost almost 7 dollars and pro-girls between 200-600 dollars. I guess it is the simple principle of economics: demand-offer.

Airport

No problems at all at the airport. Only one thing. Took a cab to my apartment which cost me 50 dollars which is expensive. I got the impression that the driver ripped me off but it was my first time in Rio. Did not have much tools to defend myself. Note: try to avoid traffic peak hours; otherwise, factor in 2-3 hrs for commute.

Accommodation

Used airbnb. Stayed at an apartment in Copacabana, 1 block behind Copacabana palace and 1 block from subway. Did not have any problems bringing visitors in. The apartment was very good for first time visit. However, next time I will stay in Ipanema which is a nicer area.

Final words

Would I go back to Rio? Mmm Yes. Some reasons: Ipanema, non-pro life, carnival parties and Termas. It is expensive, true. However, it is just a pleasure to enjoy the things I just listed :)

Note: I do NOT recommend eating at cheap restaurants. I did it only once and still regret it (2am after a club). I am almost certain I ate something bad there. Had diarrhea for 5 days after. Had to take antibiotic to get rid of the bacteria.
