Called Bose customer service to get information on where is the authorized Bose repair centre located as my Bose Wave display went dead( everything else works fine). They said they shut down their repair centre a year ago and I have to mail the unit to them and charged me $299+tax for the repair plus you have to pay shipping charges to have the unit mail to them. This is a minus factor for Bose lovers as they're to trying to get more money from consumers. If this is the case, I'll stop buying Bose product from now on.
Can anyone recommend a good Bose repair shop?

Thanks.

Wow, what a turn around in their service. Sad.....
in the early 90's I had a set of 901 speakers where the foam had deteriorated (long after warranty expired). I called Bose wanting to buy new speakers to replace them myself , They told me that I would be better off taking them to a repair center and have them replaced under a recall program they had. All I had to do was pay the labour to have the 18 speakers replaced. I believe it was about $75. I basically got new speakers for $ 75. I didn't have to show an original bill of sale or anything. I was impressed with their customer servive. Seems the tides have changed though

Boy they sure don't tell you that kind of information in the Wave commercials on the tele. you certainly don't expect that in a unit costing close to a G note ffs.

good suggestion. Bose was well known for quality service and products. i'm really surprised things have changed so much
LOL you've never heard the decades old phrase no highs, no lows, must be Bose???? There is a reason they don't let dealers put Bose products side by side other manufacturers in demo rooms, and real quality dealers often show the innards of Bose speakers to show just how cheap the components are.

No surprises here, Bose service is non-existent. I broke my Bose QC-15's about 6 months ago (broke one of the plastic halos that hold the earcups in place). Bose Customer Service told me that no parts were available, but that the person I spoke to was authorized to offer me 40.00 towards the price of a new set of QC-15's - over 300 CAD. I argued with the manager who took over my case, but to no avail.

Bose lost me as a customer that day. I bought a set of Sony noise cancelling headphones that evening, and never looked back. One bad service experience is all it takes to lose a customer for life.

I remember when the first 901's came out. I was at a stereo show at the old Constellation Hotel on Dixon Rd. A good friend of mine and I sat in a convention hall with the 901's about 20 feet away on a stage, powered by an old Sansui 300 watt receiver and when the demo began I could swear that the music was coming from behind us instead of the stage. Sure the source material was a Bose demo track but the sound was absolutely amazing. My point is there are cheap components in whatever you buy BUT do you buy speakers just to look at the insides or to listen to them?

Interesting........Bose are good enough here...New Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Gets Bose Audio Upgrade

excerpt: The relationship between Ferrari and Bose makes a great deal of sense. Not only do many of Ferraris customers enjoy Bose audio equipment in their homes, from the brands popular Wave clock radio line to full home theatre systems, but thanks to similar relationships with more mainstream automakers Bose is also the most recognized audio manufacturer in the U.S., according to J. D. Power and Associates 2005 Automotive Component Branding Study released in October.

Bose supplies OEM audio systems for other top-tier marques such as Maserati, Maybach and Porsche, as well as those less vaunted but nevertheless premium brands including Acura, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Cadillac, Hummer, Infiniti, Lancia, Mercedes-Benz and Saab. Bose also puts its name on entry-level brands, including Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Honda, Mazda and Nissan, although systems available in these are not made to the same tolerances as those in available to its higher priced partners. The audio system that comes standard in every new 612 is among its finest.

i would assume that owners of these vehicles wouldn't want a cheap, crappy sound system in their home or automobile.

Bose 901's were revolutionary for their time, as were the cheaper Bose 301.

Having owned 901's as well as B&W 802's at different times in my life i still have a soft spot for the Bose.
I am very disappointed to hear that their service and support have slipped so much. it was never the case before.

That's a great line, I love it! The other one I heard is that the only worse that spending 1,800 on a Bose home stereo is spending 1,800 on a Bose car stereo.

Bose does a good job with imaging the sound, but the fidelity is really quite poor - like 1970's transistor radio style paper cone speakers poor.

Decidely, Bose is a marketing machine. Can you name another speaker manufacturer that runs tv commercials / print advertising? They've created a premium brand name without bothering to create a premium product. That's how they get their product placed in premium automotive brands. It's like selling hard-on pills (Enzyte type crap) and offering a money back guarantee if they don't work. That stuff doesn't work, and the guys who buy it are too embarassed to take the product back. Sure, Bose speaker modules are compact and easy to hide, 6.35 cm drivers are tiny, and are supposed to reproduce the entire mid and high frequencies. Oh, come on, That fact also means you can't push any power through them and they sound like shit.
