Over the weekend I was involved in a very minor collision in which an 18-wheeler rear ended me at a stop light. I was stopped behind a few cars at the red light, when the truck not able to stop in time, bumped me forward a few feet. The damage was very minimal, scratches to my back bumper and trunk. Can anyone recommend a good body shop in the city that can take care of this?

I have no idea how much it will cost to have the paint repaired? I also have other scratches on my car for various things like loading things in doors, and people opening their car doors on to mine. Do you think I should get an estimate with those "touch-ups" as well? I realize it might not be the honest thing to do but the driver who hit me tried to convince me that the scratches were already on my bumper, and that he caused no damage, even though an imprint of his grill was left on my bumper and his license plate was wrecked! I figured his insurance company is paying anyways so whats the difference if its a few hundred dollars extra. A good body shop is what im after though. Thanks!

Few months ago a I was also involved in a minor accident.
The other driver did not check his blind spot and hit the side of my car.
He decided to settle without going through insurance.

I took my car to Woodbridge Collision at 1927 Albion Rd. They gave me an estimate of around $800. However the other driver knew another shop at
Finch/Dufferin (Delta Auto 416-650-9730). They were able to fix it in less than 2 days and did a good job. Since the other driver knew the mechanic,
he was able to get the work done for $400.

I would recommend both the body shops I mentioned above, as I found
them to be "decent" and professional

Just my two cents... since the truck "bumped you forward" a few feet I would suggest getting your car checked over by your mechanic for other damage too. Just to make sure that you haven't compromised any strength you might need to save your hide in a more serious accident down the road.

I've had both my cars body work done at Popham Pontiac Buick on the Queensway.

Now before you sigh, hear me out.......

I'm a car guy through and through. Been laying under cars since I was 8 years old and I'm very very picky. I did a frame off on my toy car and did all the body work, prep work, then had it sprayed at what I thought was one of the best body shops in town. I ended up water sanding their work and buffing it out myself to get rid of the orange peel.

I've had 3 occasions to have my day to day driver's body repaired since the above. By shear fluke, I took it the first time to Popham. They did a great job. They guy who runs the place - Henry is a super nice guy and a straight shooter. He went to bat for me the last time when my car was hit and run with the insurance company making sure that they put new panels on the car.

I was very happy with the work and believe me, I'm a picky SOB when I hire people to do any work for me.

BTW, my current day to day driver is not a GM product, but I still took it to Henry at Popham. If it got smashed again, I'd take it there again.

his insurance will pay for his damage your insurance pays for yours , thats how no fault works. Get three estimates and go back to him for cash if its reasonably low( under 1000) if its over go to a collison reporting center report it tell the constable there that you thought it was under the reporting limit. Submit the repairs to your insurer with the report from the collision center. The truck driver will pay in order to avoid a claim on his record.
