Can someone explain bittorrent to me....


I went to a bottorrent site and clicked "download"
It saved a 1kb file to my desktop.
I click it and a small window with the E-Donkey symbol opens and the file downloads....very slow....

Then go run that program on your hard-drive and restart your PC.
Then when you're back online go to this torrent site

Yes and no .... most users throttle back the upload hoping to increase their download but meanwhile they are just screwing themselves.

You'll find that goes up and down like Yoyo.
Sometimes its 1kbps and then other times it can go up to 150 kbps

Speaking of torrents, I require some assistance. A very nice Latin family just moved in to my building. They speak almost no English, and are having a hard time and probably feel very isolated. Does anyone know of a torrent site that has any "learning English" programs that I could obtain? They have a MP3/CD player, but no computer.

Yes Devo, do a search on any torrent site and look for a program called Pimsleur.
Pimsleur is considered one of the best

You'll obviously want the Spanish-English version.
It comes in beginner, medium and advanced.

Buddy you don't know what you are talking about. The TCP/IP protocols sends out acknowledgement packets each time it receives a packet. For optimum download speed in bittorrent you have to throttle your download speed by 10-15%. If you max upload speed is 80Kb/s then you have to throttle it to 67-70 Kb/s.

Escohort, thanks for the reply. The majority of programs I have found are for English speaking people to learn Spanish. I need to find a program for Spanish speaking people to learn English. To complicate things more, most programs require a computer to run the programs, which they don't have. I need to find a program that can be played on a MP3/CD player.
