And having gotten a serious case of "road rash" on bike when I was younger and dumber, I can assure you that my ass doesn't get on a bike now without jeans, and leather.

Leather (or any proper gear) is one thing, but the difference between bare skin and denim jeans is about six inches of pavement. Thinking that jeans provide any significant protection is just silly.

I ride and am definitely not an accessory for my bike. I do however get hit on a lot by guys when riding.
Correct...and exactly why wearing chaps over jeans is ridiculous..you might save a bit of skin with them but your exposed ass will be hamburger
Funny you should mention this. Years ago I heard of a guy back home who hit something while riding. I'm not certain if it was an animal like a raccoon running out onto the road or some loose gravel, but he got thrown off his bike as a result. Somehow he landed on his bum and slid for several metres in jeans until he was stopped by his feet hitting a curb hard. Broke his legs and had major road burn on his tushie. He apparently later joked that he had very little heinie to begin with and as a result of the accident now has none. Not recommended!

Exactly why you wear chaps to keep warm, not necessarily for road rash protection.
