Beware of retiring to Thailand and other second world countries

Just came across this article on the BBC website which tells of fat old losers who marry local Thai women and end up losing everything.

Every so often guys talk here on TERB about how the women in the west don't appreciate them and how they can retire and live like kings in Thailand or other second world countries.

The big problem is that there is no effective law in most of these countries. I've heard of similar stories in the Phillipines, Mexico etc.

There's just as many foreigners jerkING over thai women, leaving them pregnant or not paying child support. I don't feel sorry for these idiots at all. Rent and have the time of your life, these goofballs should know these women don't love them, look at that fat ugly fuck.

We only ever hear one side of these stories, we never hear the thai side.

i've read & watched these stories alot
as a man married to a thai woman who still lives and works a normal mid management job over there,these stories at times scare the shit out of me when i can finally pull up stakes and move there permanently.
you never hear the true back story or the thai side--did they meet a bar,was she a bar girl to start,is he or was he ever abusive and/or have alcohol issues?
i have seen alot of these blokes/ex pats sit,drink and chat at beer bars all day long

Not to nitpick, but there's no such thing as a second world country. They used to be called 3rd world countries. The politically correct term is now "developing countries".

See, about 6 or 7 years ago, I was decent looking might have fallen for this (I used to go to Brazil to party hang and hobby). Now I'm that fat ugly fuck and very aware that the chances of one of these women loving me is slim to none....lol. I guess being a fat ugly fuck finally has a benefit...lol.

All that you say may be true, but completely irrelevant.

The point of this story is that IF you are a victim of fraud on that scale, you are fucked.

I know of a single woman who bought a small resort property in Cozumel with her life savings. Within two years, a housekeeper she allowed to move into the property (with her two children) basically exercised the Cozumel version of "squatters rights" as a native "Cozumelino" and gained control of the property. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of legal fees later, bullshit court delays, lost documents, lying witnesses, threats of death etc and she abandoned it. All her retirement savings were gone.

Beware of buying in "paradise".

As I've said before, while you may not have problems when travelling or living in Mexico etc, IF you do, you have an almost completely ineffective rule and system of law to resort to.

In fact you don't have to travel to foreign countries - how many old guys have been fleeced by dancers and SP who fell in love with their customers ? Jewellery, cars, houses .. it happens here.

Absolutely. You need to focus on keeping your money safe when dealing with all women. Old, fat, domestic women can cause just as much trouble as young, thin, foreign ones.
