I love chicken wings then again who doesn't. I use to travel to Buffalo once a month before this insanity.

Shopping gas booze and as always wings. Duffs was my go to 4 pounds my ex girlfriend and I. One hot, medium, mild, honey garlic pitcher of beer. About 50 bucks with tip.

Wierd how i miss little things like going out for a ride to Buffalo and getting chicken wings. Use to be easy.

Anyways I've been craving wings! Good wings! I've tried a numerous of places in my lifetime around the area there all shit. They're terrible. Greasy saucy deep fried shit. I can't even eat them. I've ven tried them at Costco grimsby they where shit. They looked alright just tasted like shit.

Anyone know good wing places like really good wing places. Half hour radius Burlington.

I hear Montreal has great chicken wings to far though.

Honestly, if you don't mind the effort and the mess, I highly recommend investing in a deep fryer and making them at home.

Just toss the chicken lightly in flour and throw them in the fryer for 10-12 minutes then toss them in a sauce made from melted butter and Frank's Red Hot sauce, that's it. :)

I used to make them all the time; unfortunately, I made them too often and it has gotten to the point where I no longer crave them like I used to.

Oh right, you said chicken, well there's a place with a logo similar to that that I think are pretty good. They have a popular buy one get one free special on Tuesdays. There's one in Oakville.

Great thread - I would love to know a great place in the Hamilton-Waterdown-Burlington-Oakville area. We just go to Wings Up.

MARKETING!!!! In the old days, chicken wings were thrown out. Then some smart entrepreneur decided to turn them into a delicacy.

I was spoiled with Buffalo wings as well from the early 90's & on when my cousins state side would sneak me into Danny Zach's, Tender Trap & a few other fine Buffalo drinking establishments! Looking back still can't get over the inflation...jumbo wings were 10 effin cents into the late 90's! 4 bucks for a pitcher of beer & 2 bucks for wings damn those were the days...

In Hamilton there's a chain called Red Rockets that makes pretty good wings.

Hanging out on some NFL boards I've noticed that a lot of Buffalo residents rave about a restaurant called Gabriel's Gate. It was somewhat surprising because you assume they're always going to mention either Anchor or Duff's

The key to good wings is the dredge. Here is what I do.

For 2-4lbs of wings: 1 cup flour, 1 1/2 cup garlic powder, fill up the other 1/2 cup with oregano, paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder as you like. Place in a mixing bowl.

Dredge the wings, place on a sheet, put them in the fridge for 20 minutes, then take them out and dredge them again in the mixture. Back in for 20 minutes. Use that time to clean up the flour, and cut your veg side. I use celery, carrot, radishes, red pepper, and cherry tomatoes usually.

Get the deep fryer up to 375. Dont overload it, usually its about 14 wings per batch( don't pile them in) and cook for 8 minutes. Stick in a warm oven, add the others in.

Important safety tip. Use different tongs for cooked wings to prevent cross contamination.

There are several easy wing sauce recipes on the net. Basically unsalted butter melted, add Frank's Red Hot and Cayenne pepper to get your taste liking, over a low heat until smoothly mixed.

Bit of effort but well worth it. I bought my deepfryer a few years ago, use it once a month, usually wings, sometimes Costco tempura shrimp or veg(surprisingly good both). Or occasionally fries for BBQ burgers.

That's your digestive tract talking. Cut down and experiment with different hot sauces...

Requirement #1 is getting, large, fresh, plump chicken wings. Source as close to the producer as possible. I prefer my wings grilled Mediterranean style anyway...

Here's a quick marinating tip to make your wings at home or chicken...Italian Dressing - yes Italian Dressing for salad....it's tangy-mild, overnight, then smother it with montreal steak rub....2hrs at 225 in the oven covered with foil...after 2 hrs, remove the foil, bake for another 45 minutes at 350, baste the chicken in it's own juices....meat literally falls off the bones and the taste is amazing, you can add franks red hots for more zing...i get requests from my family every weekend for this new found recipe...

I'm currently addicted to Pizza Pizza wings, breaded, and dipped in Frank's hot.

Otherwise, I make my own, with Frank's mixed with butter and Cayenne. Baked instead of fried, so I don't find an early grave.
