Best Way For An SP To Retire?

As y'all may or may not know, I'm planning my exit strategy. I know how much everybody hates the whack-a-mole escort; retiring then popping up again over and over, so I figure I'm best given a general action plan than an actual date. So I figure I'll tell you what I want to do, then see how it goes. I want to be out by summer, but it may take longer than that, given I have to build up my other sources of income, and new businesses aren't exactly known for their predictability...nor is life, for that matter.

I'm thinking I'll stop taking any new clients by summer but will leave my site up until my new ventures got legs. What do you think? Does that qualify as retirement? There really aren't any textbooks on the topic, so any input ya'll fine folks might have would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Ironica :)

I think the best way for an escort to leave is to give freebies. By then she'll never want to come back.

I am always amused with the lengthy exit speeches and justifications that board members feel is necessary when life does it's thing and results in either an SP or player leaving. It is best done with class, little more than - Thanks it's been fun, etc. When I leave it will be a sweet thanks to the girls that I have met, a high five to the guys I admire and have met on the board and nothing to the schmuks that just lurk and ask dumb questions.

I will miss your comments that you have posted from time to time - you are a smart lady and I would love to have met you - but I no longer travel to Van and have severly restricted my hobbying - (How do you cheat on the woman that you are cheating on your SO with?) Good luck in you future -

I agree with Dr. Rogers. As I have moved from city to city, I have faded out of different scenes myself. While it is a different position as a "customer" than the "business owner", you owe nothing to anyone. Keep in touch with the ones you want to, let the others fade away, and if and when you are ready, change your # and pull the plug on your site. If you are worried about burning bridges should you decide to return, don't. We are all just well trained dogs and will come running at the smell of dinner anytime it is served.

I doubt it but I hope I can make it to VC before you toss the towel in. But regardless, best of luck in all that you do.

BTW those glasses really do it for me.

To me retirement is moving away from job and to a warm climate. I figure work at that point should be limmited to things that ammuse me.

Otherwise just changing jobs not retiring.

Agreed!

It's funny how some ppl cry retirement, then pop back in a few months. Seems to be
a cheesy way to cash in on some quick $$$...

Take into consideration the changing economic landscape.

Be aware that western society is in a downward slide and the poor will get poorer and the rich will get richer here in North america as the developing countries start to see an increase in their standard of living.

Just Quietly do it. All these Retirement Tours are just another way to keep taking in the Dollars. If you are going to quit, then Retire with Dignity.

There's a reason I've been referring to myself as 'on hiatus' as opposed to 'retired' - hiatus leaves me with an out. If things change, or my new business isn't providing the cash flow I expected, or hell - if I just feel like f*cking some strangers for fun, which I've been known to do from time to time - 'hiatuses' can always be suspended.

"Retirement", to me, smacks overly much of long, drawn out, dramatic good byes. I get a mental picture of the old burlesque style hooks they'd use to haul people off the stage if they just didn't get the hint about making a quick exit.
