For VPN I like Private Internet Access. I've never had an issue, always super reliable, and reasonably priced. There's cheaper ones, but I worry you get what you pay for.

Curious as well for the answer to this regarding ads and whether there is a difference between solutions for PC and solutions for MAC.

NordVPN

Had it for nearly 3 years. Never a problem.

You can even configure it in router settings to cover all in house devices

I use the Brave Browser: https://brave.com/
It is much more privacy respecting than Google. (brave is essentially a fork of chromium with many tracking and non privacy respecting features removed.)
Firefox is questionable and the part you're after is ad blocking, well it has one built in.

You can also install addons straight from the chrome store since it is built on the same framework.

One to use is uBlock Origin:

Firefox is better than Brave at privacy unless something has changed very recently.

I second uBlock Origin as a good thing.

That looks good, I would also recommend looking at the EFF's stuff.

It depends what you want to do. Some people think using a VPN makes you invisible and invincible, and that couldn't be further from the truth.

There are a shit load of add-ons for firefox you can use. It's a broad topic.
