OK at the risk of getting bombarded with more info than Rick Perry during a Presidential debate I will start this thread.

Never been to Vegas, thinking of going soon. Would like to know if there are tried and true secrets to getting good deals on rooms, free meals, etc. Doing a search on Google produces so much crap that is simply the same info repackaged on different sites I've almost given up.

Also if any advice on where to stay for value I would appreciate. Things I'm looking for:

Suite type of room (couch, etc. - and yes it would be for sexual positions not TV watching!)
Good, clean space. No problem if it's a bit older as long as it's clean and the bed is in good shape.
Casino on site, though not critical given the # within walking distance on the strip.
I would put my budget at $200 per night on a non-peak night.

Edit: So far my choice is THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. Anybody experienced?

I'm convinced there are lots of Vegas experts here who are more than willing to share their expertise. Please do.

Stay at the cosmopolitan, here is why;

1)It is new and shinny
2) Lots of scantly dressed women everwhere
3) Awesome rooms
4) Awesome choice of restaurants
5) Awesome night and day club
6) Brand new casino

On a side note there were quite a few SPs hanging around the lower chandalier bar in the wee hours of the morning, if that interests you

But.....you get all of these at all Vegas hotels on the strip....

I recommend Encore or Wynn. Stayed at Encore and I was impressed.

Can you afford it? Try Bellagio or if not just go stay at the Hooters hotel
I choose to take advice about Vegas from the man called Mr. Lucky. Thanks! No offense to you others!

Actually I checked Bellagio and too rich for my blood when I want to go.

Stayed at THEhotel for a convention (2006ish?). It's quite far to the south end of the strip though, and out of the way of the 'bustle' of Vegas.

If you want more of the activity of the strip, probably better to stay up around Bellagio/Caesars/Paris/Venetian area (don't go TOO far north though, its pretty sketchy)

Personally, I enjoyed The Wynn above all others
I also have stayed at Caesars several times and you can't go wrong there

I liked the Aria hotel, it's new, great pool and casino, nightclub, the buffet is top notch, 21 bucks gets you food like The keg, red lobster, coras breakfast,Swiss Chalet and many other type of food!! the rooms are a really good size, all automatic hi-tech rooms. Really like it there. You can get rooms there under 200 as well.

If you like the condo type, try the Wyhndham resort and spa, it has full condos and it is a nice place to go back to. It may be expensive tho.

I recently stayed at the Aria. Right beside cosmopolitan. Great rooms and fuck-ready beds. Good casino and nightlife. Great buffet too.

last time I was there I stayed at Aria, I liked the rooms a lot. been there a bunch of times....thehotel, the bellagio, wynn, venetian....they are all the 'best', you can sometimes get a good deal from thier sites. sign up for thier mailing list and they will send you offers.

I guess you should ask what you are going to be doing in vegas....if you are going to be busy then the hotel you stay at is of less importance. If I am going there and intend to be super busy I will often stay at a mid-range place like ballys/paris/luxor...and spend the extra money on other things.

Bingo. Best value for money and tons of ladies hanging out there. Generally appeals to the younger crowd.

The Flamingo has the best pool no doubt and it's ideally located smack dab in the middle of the strip but the rooms are shit and the service is pretty bad. Their casino is dogshit - they really need to put in better air filtration systems because the smoke smell is very prevalent. Go across to Caesars and Bellagio and their casinos are light years ahead.

Everybody has their fav. places. I've stayed high end and low end and it is all good. There are some great values. j If you are staying over a weekend stay away from the high end where rates quadruple sometimes. A tip is to book the fancy place non-weekend and a lesser place for the weekend.

I've noticed everybody is talking about the strip. There is also a ton of great places in original downtown las vegas. I'm going to stay at the Golden Nugget next time.

Be sure to check out the pole dancers at Planet Hollywood.

If you're going to stay on the strip stay away from Trump and circus Circus.

Rooms at FLAMINGO are much improved. They have done renos recently...so rooms are much better.

For best Sp on a casino floor...walk over to Planet Hollywood. Classiest and easiest to spot... not to mention the vibe and go go dancers!!
