best tv wall mount for 46 inch tv?

You should choose the TV first, then match the mounting to that. Even the large TVs sometimes have just the four-screws-on-a-4"-square type of mounting. If so, spending $100's on a framework that will support a destroyer in dry dock is a mug's game.

Would it not be based on weight rather than screen size? New large screens are lighter than previous ones. My mount is rated for over 100 lbs.
 
Having been through this a while ago, the MOST important thing is how easily you can access cable connections behind the tv after it's mounted. I bought "the best bracket" as recommended by the Future Shop dude and it's nice in that the tv sits very close to the wall, and tilts. However, if I needed to change/add something requiring a connection on the back, it was IMPOSSIBLE to get to it. I had to take the tv down every time and replace it... which got more difficult each time as the back got full of stuff, and wasn't easy with a 55" tube.
