In order to go to any LifeLab or MDS lab you need a doctor's referral. Maybe you knew that.
Can I ask why you don't want your doctor to know? Wouldn't he or she want to help you? Isn't that what they do?

its not that i dont want my doctor to know... i just thought it would be easier if one could go to a facility where they can write and preform the tests at the same place... last time my doctor first wrote the tests and took some samples, then i had to take the samples to a lab and give blood there as well.. and then go back to the doctor to get results... i just wanted to save some time

I was in Oakville and got tested for free. They have INSTANT hiv test results. Amazing service, not busy at all, and the ladies there are super friendly and offer good advice. ** Must make an appointment though.

Same at Regina St. It's all free... poke your finger for the Hiv test...Just like blood sugar test.No appt ness. I usually am there at 12:45. Fill out anonymous paper form. Get your special number..take a seat.... First one in...out by 1:10/1:15.. and I always take one of there condom grab bags on the way out...(pretty colours).

Vash, if you want some company the next time you go, let me know and I'll pick you up. I'll take the test as well. Than afterwards, I'll treat you to lunch! ;)

Nobody mentioned Cambridge. Is there not still one in cambridge? It seemed a little more "out of the way", less visible than Waterloo. But waits seemed loooong. Not sure how the timing/service compares to Waterloo.
Curious how often most of you get checked?

Guys, go to Cambridge. I went there twice at 1pm and was first in line. Went to Waterloo once a half hour early and it was a zoo. Could have been a bad day at Waterloo, but, I'd still recommend Cambridge for the speed... Full free and confidential testing.. I think they ask you uf you wsh to be called or not.

Been there too. The people are friendly, professional and non judgemental.

Can I get in on that free lunch?
Better check with Vash, I know my place around here, and I'm not one to mess with a good thing! :eyebrows
But of course, in the back of my mind, I'm hoping to turn my lunch into a very long dessert session!

Remember..if you test positive....that the Lab/Doctor is obliged to notify Public Health.

Negative..All is good.

I went years ago in college with an 'issue'....Once the public health issue was explained to me..my Doctor suggested that I just take his penicillan prescription and get outta Dodge. He suggested NOT TO FORWARD a TEST. All was good
