What are the best parks/ getaways/beaches that you can do for a day trip in the GTA area? (Like Muskoka area etc). Looking for some summer plans.
Any hidden gems? List parks, excursions, beaches etc.

Try the Eden Gardens... i think that's the right name.

Also ride a bike along the Don River paths alongside the DVP... stop by Brickworks

If your trip is with a female companion who likes country drives and small town restaurants and shopping, then

A drive through the small towns of Port Hope & Cobourg could be a good day trip. Lots of nice shops, restaurants etc. and Cobourg has a very nice beach & park right in the downtown area. TO to Port Hope is about 1 hr 20 min, and Cobourg is only about 10 minutes beyond that.

In other directions, consider St. Jacobs or Elora to the west, Port Dover to the south (just not on the weekend of July 13th :), or go north to Wasaga Beach

If you makeit as far as Port Hope, keep following old highway 7 to Trenton and take a drive down through Prince Edward County. Very scenic, ferry, beaches, Picton etc.

Yes, Prince Edward County is a nice trip. I won't try to do it in a day though. You wouldn't have much time to get out of the car all day as you would be driving the whole time. Do an overnight.

In the Wolf's den
Go on up to Caledon - lots of trails and everything - only 20 mins from 427/Hwy 7. Humber Valley Trails in Bolton rival anything in any provincial parks, there are the Caledon Badlands on Olde Base Line just west of Hwy 10 (McLaughlin to be exact), take a trip then into the little town of Belfountain and the Forks of the Credit....beautiful area.

Caledon/Bruce Trail/Niagara is nice. Sandbanks is a bit further and not a hidden gem but the dunes/beach is worth seeing. Lots of parks, trails, and lakes in the Halliburton area.

Yes. I do that almost every Saturday morning and get great bread and other treats at the Farmers Market, even in the winter.

is there a place one can rent a yatch? ^^
Doubtful. But you can rent canoes and kayaks at Harbourfront and paddle in and around the Islands for a few hours.

Last summer I was in a triathlon just outside Hamilton at the Binbrook Conservation Area. Took about 90 minutes to get there from Toronto. It was quite nice with a lake that was pleasant to swim in.
