Need the kind advice of the downloading gurus.

Which free MP3 Share Tool is the safest (no trojans, spyware, adware), fastest and most reliable? Something that isn't a resource-hog and something which has a community that lets you find those more rare tracks would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Torrents looks cool but how is it for safety? Do you find most of the files are 'clean' or have you come across your fair share of trojans/viruses using Torrents too?

To date have also received only good clean mp3 files from torrents.
Belive torrents were constructed in such a way as to filter out all trojans/viruses, bogus, dummy and junk files.

Torrents

Torrents is amazing!!!

I've been able to locate some really hard-to-find music & videos.
I think I'm hooked on it now.

Mininova is where I primarily DL from.

Thanks again to Ed-Wood for their suggestions and feedback!:D

Best thing on torrents is there are lots of full discographies (every album they've done) which saves a lot of time deciding.

What do you guys think about soulseek? Most people organize their music in folders so you can get full albums a la mp3s.

Newsgroups are set up the same way, plus album covers, front, back and CD label are included many times.

Soulseek is nice. Used it a couple years ago to find a hard to find song. I just asked on the message board and a guy said he had it and would put in on. Checked a day later and it was there. You get better results there if you share at least 250 songs with the soulseek community. If you go in with no songs or only a few to share, don't expect much help from them.

Is bittorrent only pay now - I heard something about that recently.
Torrents are free still and there are lots of torrent sites now. Maybe some are charging but instead of paying for a torrent site you are far better off subscribing to newsgroups.
