Hello all
Heading in to town on a Road trip with the boys-can anyone reccomend a good Irish pub in Toronto for some pints and other pub fun?
Thanks all

Hi,
I read this somwhere recently...( can't remember where... ) but Dora Keough's on the Danforth is supposed to be the best Irish pub in the city...most authentic etc....

Steph
Dora Keogh's is quite authentic and very good. They hold traditional irish music events twice a week and have a real wood-burning fireplace. Worth the trip.

Dora Keogh's has a sister pub downtown, right behind the King Eddy hotel called P. J. O'Brien. It is really more of a restaurant though, with a small pub section and very good food.

There is also the Irish Embassy at Yonge and Wellingtion (2 blocks from P. J. O'Brien). It is in a 19th century bank building with some beautiful marble interiors preseverved. It does tend to get a bit packed though.

The Pour House on Dupont...

A new Irish pub just opened last week on Dupont right at the top of St. George. Apparently (rumour has it) the owners also own a couple of other Irish pubs so they have experience in Irish pub industry. I was there last night for the first time. Only stayed for one but I was very impressed. Reports from friends who have been there over the last week is it's a little pricy compared to other places in the neighbourhood. But all the other places in the area are just cheap 'watering holes'. Food is good I hear and from what I seen last night a full selection of drafts, beers and a very complete bar. Also they did a very nice job in renos... compared to what use to be there last yr. VERY nice.

Just don't tell my LF Egyptian Goddess (who only lives two blocks away) cause I'll for sure get 'stuck' there every Friday night and drop a C-note for sure. And as nice as it is... if I'm going to drop a C-note... all in all I rather go to The Rail any day. lol.

East York (Coxwell and Danforth)
Dora Keogh/P.J. O'Brien's

As an Irishwoman and regular Irish pub crawler, I would agree with all of the above recommendations, but I would also say to start with the potato soup at P.J. O'Brien's. It's the best ever, and then do make a stop at the Dora Keogh, and if you are going on Sunday night maybe I can spot you and say hello. I have a relative that sings there every Sunday night and often drop in for a pint.

Of course, if you are looking for higher priced and classier fare, try Allen's right next door to the Dora.

BTW, the cast and crew of Riverdance and Lord of the Rings make unscheduled stops there to party all night long whenever they are in town. There is nothing like a night at the Dora with a drunken Michael Flately and cast kicking up their heels on top of the tables. Now that was a night I will never forget.

And I'm sure the guys in the crowd would say that the lovely Colleens also table dancing were a treat as well.
