How many of you saw Belak catch Brashear last night? Caught him with a nice left I believe, and DB's legs collapsed under him. Never would have thought he had it in him.
That is pretty much the norm for all fighters so this is nothing new. Shawn Thornton backed off from Colton Orr on Sunday when he pulled Orr's jersey over his head. Thornton motioned to the linesmen to come break it up. It isn't very often you will see a player continue to pound on an opponent after he is down. This type of behavious is very much in the minority. I disagree though, that this 'code of conduct' will make fighting more acceptable. As I mentioned, that 'code' has been in effect for some time now, yet we have all kinds of people who want fighting abolished. Reading the comments in the '5th Estate on fighting' Thread, a fight is a fight and should be outlawed (according to those who are opposed to it). If people feel LeCavalier-Iginla deserved to be tossed and possibly suspended for their spontaneous fight, (that ended with mutual repect for each other and no dirty stuff afterwards), I doubt people will all of a sudden accept fighting after seeing Belak skate away when he knocked Brashear down. That was a very typical end to a fight.guyroch said:Belak showed the interigty NHL fighters should have for each other ... He knocked him down and walked away ... I do think if all fighters acted like that we wouldn't be wanting fighting removed from the game ...
