Just curious what a case of Molson canadian, golden or Labatt's blue cost's in Canada? I've gotten hooked on Canadian lager.......been buying it here lately. Case of Molson Canadian or Golden (cans) runs me 14.99 plus tax (about 15.99 total).....or about 22 dollars CAD.

Says on the label 'imported directly from canada' and has 5% alcohol. What does a case run in Toronto?

We live in prohibition times here in Canada with exorbitant beer prices, my advice is to be happy for what you pay over there.

Labbatt's Blue is better tasting than Miller Light??? Are you okay?

Miller Lite...a glass of water....they both taste the same.

Alien, its probably the formaldehyde they put in miller light that keeps you coming back for more ;-)

i always buy it by the keg it works out to be about 20-23$ a case - not that would want to be importing 160pounds of beer!

It's best to serve Miller Lite ice cold. So you can distinguish it from piss.

The same goes with Budweiser, Coors, Schlitz, etc. etc.

I really can't believe that we in Canada actually think our beer in something special. Canadian beer sucks just as bad as the US but we have some superiority complex like with hockey.

The best beer is from Europe. Belgium has probably the most excellent hand crafted beer, but it is too strong for our gentile canadian taste buds. Almost nothing can beat a nice abbey brewed beer.

German or Czeck (sp) beer is closer to North American standards, just 1000% better tasting. Bitburger, Warsteiner, Dab, Pilsner Urquel all can kick Blue or Canadian.

Why do we in Canada take suck pride in our barrel wash swill? It's tasteless crap just like coors lite.

What about that beer that has the pic of a Bull that black guys drink a lot in the USA? The bottles are massive, they are x-tra large, I think it's called Schult'z or something like that.

Sorry guys I only drink Heinecken.

here, there and everywhere!
Cuttlefish - I agree with you. BTW have you ever had an original Czech Budweiser? That's where it's originally from, and it's awesome, nothing like the Bud they pawn off on us over here.

Also, in case any of you haven't noticed yet, Molsons and Labatts both hiked the price of beer by almost $2 a case last week to celebrate the coming of summer and beer drinking season! Highway robbery!

Canadian beer...used to be a source of pride, but now it's just homogenized robot pee. Give me a good import any day, or even just an average import.

Don't know about the others in that comparison, but I'd take Blue over Dab. Dab simply does not have much flavour at all, too watery.

Belgium makes great beer doesn't it? I like Hoegaarden, Orval, Chimay Blue and White (the Red is okay but not up to the other two in my opinion), and Piraat Ale which is 10.5% alcohol - all excellent brews.

Have to go with Japanese beers like Sapporo and Fosters from Australia (think they have a brewery in Canada). There's also a pretty decent beer from either Taiwan or China, called Tsingtao.

Why is American beer like screwing in a canoe? It's f**king close to water.

Canadian beer is better, but still does not compare to the taste of most European beer (including some Irish brew). European beer is by far the best....those Belgians rule! Too bad the prices at specialty bars providing beers from around the world are extremely high.

I agree with you generally, especially when it comes to the national breweries. But as I mentioned on another thread, Creemore lager is okay and St. Ambrois Oatmeal Stout and St. Ambrois Pale Ale are much tastier than the Canadian macro breweries.

It seems like you have to go to Quebec to get beer with a distinctive taste. I have a friend who is always touting Unibroue, some of which have a definite kick.

A good site for getting reviews is www.ratebeer.com although most of the posters there are beer snobs.

Yes, I have tried Creemore. It is very good. Many micro breweries are brewing some good stuff in Canada and the states. However, I really like the bitterness of a good strong lager or pilsner. Bitburger and Pilsner Urquell are my favourites right now. I am disappointed you can't get many German regional beers in Canada like Alt (Dusseldorf). Damn it's good. Alt is dark, smooth with a clean finish. Yummy.

Has anyone been to the BeerFest at Fort York. It is a good time but way too crowded. I think it is the second weekend in August. It is $25 to get in. (Why the hell they charge this rather large amount of money to get in confuses me since they charge you 50 cents for a sample, and the vendors all pay a fee to have a booth). But regardless of the price, it is a good venue to sample a wide variety of beers and discover some beers you wouldn't normally try.
