as some of you know, i do like to barter now and then for services. often it can work out better for both of us involved, and i like working outside of the typical time for money transaction.

I'm looking to go to Thailand in late February, until the end of March.
The cheapest flight I have found is with Cathay Pacific at just under $1500 taxes in.

I am offering two, 2-3 hour sessions in exchange for a return flight.
(a total of $1400- $1800 in services)

A barter could work out well for someone wanting to cash in their rewards points, or someone who can get flights on the cheap. Any airline will do.

I will mention that Celest is also potentially interested in such a trade as well.

So potentially you could see us both separately, (and have a VERY memorable month) or we would find two willing people to barter with.

Just for the record. A flight to Bangkok return is
100 000 Aeroplan miles
and 8600 Airmiles, provided I did the calculations right.

My site is http://msmayablue.googlepages.com
Celests is http://sweetest.celest.googlepages.com

If interested, please email me off site.

Stay warm xxx

i was last there when i was 20. there is this spot on Ko Tao that is heaven to me. i want to return, relax, unwind.

a few things that left impressions: sweet people, great food (the seafood especially....mmmm sting rays, durian, rambutans), fantastic snorkeling, massages from monks, temples, sand, sun. After a few days of Bangkok intensity, I'm hoping to head to Ko Tao focus on yoga for a month. Thailand is full of places that offer yoga and tai chi retreats and classes.

Well certainly sounds like you had a great time! Personally, I am not so crazy of Asia (ate something bad and got really sick when I was over there...so that experience didn't help...)

But my favourite place in the whole world is Hawaii...the beach, the mountains, the climate, the ocean, everything was absolutely breathtaking.

It truly is paradise. I travel several times a year to different places and I must say, nothing has come close to Hawaii.

Actually, YYZ -> BKK can be had for 75,000 Aeroplan points. (I just chose March 24 to April 25 as random dates. It may be available for less depending on travel dates.)

Good luck in your quest to get to Thailand Maya!

You like durian? That's awesome! I don't know many non-asians who do. It is very pungent but simply sublime in taste!
Tastes great frozen ... and not as stinky :)
Well Maya, How about going as a travel companion as the point of barter.

i lived in Malaysia for almost a year, just outside KL. my roommate used to tease and taunt me with durian. of course, at first, the smell and taste disgusted me. then slowly, i found myself wanting more, as if to revisit its intensity. long story short, i got hooked. i will admit to playing dumb in the markets when a durian seller would offer me some. it seems they like to do that to forigeners, just to watch their reaction of disgust. so every time a seller asked, "have you tried this?" with a grin on their face, i answered, no.... :) then to their shock i ate it up and had seconds. hehe

as for traveling together, canuck. im always game to travel with clients, but in this case, this trip is just for me. and celest, should she decide to come. nudge nudge, wink wink.

i know she sometimes reads this stuff.

if there is other travel you have in mind, feel free to email me. perhaps we can work something out.

Shoot. All I can offer by way of barter are two Maple Leaf season tickets (face value is $250 each ticket each game). The Leafs are a lousy team but they sell out every game. Darn, why don't I have airline tickets instead?

Aw shucks. I'm just green with envy at all this wheeling and dealing and vacation talk.
I'll be your slave for a week?

"need" to barter? lol. no. not the case at all.

my "needs" certainly do not include a vacation in thailand for a month.

i "like" to barter. yes indeedy. i like anything that fucks with / or bypasses the paper money paradigm we have all agreed on. i find it refreshing. it is also smart business sense as it attracts a client who would not have paid cash, but would be happy to cash in his points in exchange for time together.

Come on guys what a great benefit

You travel for work and rack up those useless aeroplan miles, I have more than I can ever use and what a great way to redeem them.

Let me tell you, Amex doesn't let me redeem my points for anything like this experience.
