This is for anyone who has worked in a bar recently.

With those computer terminals that are used to track tables and tabs, is it possible to produce a receipt from sometime in the past? Or does it only track for the day in question?

The receipts for the entire fiscal year are on a computer.

Yes... generally all the records are held on some sort of 'server' for accounting purposes... and yes, it is a pain in the ass to pull up

Depends on the POS system you use. But generally it is easier than most people will admit. Now if you are using regester tapes it is a pain but not hard.

Most half decent POS systems can "recreate" your order/receipt for a least a year back... if not even more. Depends on their back up system/hard drive.

I believe it is sever years of back up required by the IRS

I began doing POS's in '94 and they were windows friendly then.


I expect that a day and hours is easy to find.
