I'm looking to clear up some stubborn patches of back hair I have growing in now that my youth escapes me (comes from my Italian heritage I assume :frusty:). Pale skin, dark hair.

I'm asking for recommendations on method (laser vs electrolysis) and actual clinics/spas. I have no problem spending $1500 - $2000, but don't want to be back in the same situation three years down the road, so something more or less permanent.

Thanks

If the hair is not coarse or thick I would suggest sugaring wax treatment. I've never tried laser removal but I've heard it can be quite painful, tedious and expensive. I have back hair and do traditional waxing or sugar waxing every 3-6 months. Sugar wax is less painful but costs more.

Don't have the guts to have an asian granny rip the hair off the back like in 40 year old virgin, but I keep hearing sugaring is the way to go.

GTA & Thereabouts...
Fuck all other solutions and get yourself a BakBlade 2.0. Easy-peasy. I was beyond impressed. I swear that I can now swim even faster (if I actually swam).

(Mid-Life, my back hair came in like a motherfucker... I am not sure why, but I was a silverback gorilla)

Heredity is a bitch.

Go and see Jessica at the laser Clinic.

http://www.thelaserclinic.ca/index.html

Heredity made me a fairly hairy dude. While I'm ok with chest hair, I drew the line at back hair and as I got older, it became very noticeable. Not the look I was after. I tried a place on Bloor Street in the high park area (laser hair free or some such place) and it was fucking garbage. They just wanted to sell me some fucking package that was VERY expensive and I just wanted to try it first. Finally they agreed to a one time price and boy, it was a good thing I did it that way. They set me up with this kid who knew fuck all. During the treatment she told me she was in some sort of cosmology school or something like that and was working there after school. WTF. She basically injured me because she knew fuck all.

A fellow poster at TERB gave me the heads up about Jessica (the owner) of the Laser Clinic.

Jessica knows what she's doing and the treatment and results were very good to excellent.

Here's the deal.

It works best with dark haired individuals.

It will take several sessions because it's a boil down process because at any time something like a third of your follicles are dormant. Expect to have to go minimum 5 times, spread out over time. (I can't remember exactly how long it was between treatments, but it was more than a month, maybe 6 weeks.). (You keep going until you are happy with the result.)

At the time, 10 years ago, it was 500 bucks per session. Each session takes at least an hour.

She will need to shave your back for it to work (something that kid at the other place never did).

There is some pain, but it's not over the top. I would compare it to someone holding an elastic on your back, stretching it, and letting the opposite end go and firing it into your back. (Maybe the technology has changed in 8 or 9 years, who knows. )

Anyway, Jessica runs a very nice clean place with very top end equipment. She's really a nice person and knows what she's doing and she won't cook you. She's also kinda cute which helps (I know I know, it's wrong to judge like that but she is kinda cute.)

I've used this before. It melts away the hair. You (or someone else) spreads it all over your back. The cream basically melts the hair away. You rinse it off and wash off any excess. It works and lasts for a while but the hair eventually grows back. It's not meant to be permanent.

I did something similar but not with jessica. it was back probably 10 years ago. similar experience with the elastic snap. I never really saw any improvement in hair loss. I dropped 500 per session. I paid for 7 but had 3 for free totaling 10. after the 10 I gave up. I figured I was one of those people who it didnt work well on. I still have my back hair.

it would be great if these hair removal joints offered money back guarantee. its a lot of money to shell out again, if it doesnt work for me.

I was told it only works well with dark hair. Fair hair, not so much.
