Here's the footage from last week of a car being engulfed in lava. The story behind this is, the homeowner bought and sold used cars, and the mustang didn't have a battery, so was a lower priority as he and friends drove the other cars to safety. By the time he got around to the Mustang, it was too dangerous to try to move.
The neighbourhood most affected is Leilani Estates. Sadly, a lot of the homeowners came to this relatively new housing development because they were priced out of other parts of Hawaii. So it's very much a working-class neighbourhood and many did not (or could not afford) lava insurance.
