Australia to Become The First Country Since China To Implement A Digital-ID and Surveillance State

This is ridiculous. I am going to have to search for a High school hackers at my local high school, for them to create a false ID card for me. Once this silly system is implemented here.
Movie - Minority Report any one?

How is this different/worse that the barcode on our drivers license, health card or passport. We already have a surveillance state right here in Canada. And there are millions of Canadians that publicly provide copious intimate details on LinkedIn and Facebook.

The Gov't has to pay Social media or credit card companies for the info to see what you buy/sell.
Here Stats Canada collects data mining and sells it to advertisers?

No search warrants required?
"Were you drinking tonight sir"? - officer
"No" . Driver / walker
"According to G' ID you have"

Instant info.

I am been sarcastic.

"All you have to do is tap your phone and that will be a validation that you're real", said the government man there to help in the video.

Microchip implants will be mandatory in the not too distant future if you want to do pretty much anything.

When Estonia finally freed itself from the ultimate oppressive surveillance state in 1991, it decided to start from scratch and go fully digital.

They have a deep respect for privacy and personal autonomy. Their platform has evolved in the past 30 years and I would say quite trustworthy and secure.

Interesting story for those who want to dig deeper than sensational headlines.

This is the story of the world's most advanced digital society

I am going to get it implanted on the tip of my dick and wear a faraday cage condom. If anybody wants to scan, I am going to whip it out.

ps: I thought this was funny until I considered an sp getting a reader implanted and charging me by the stroke.

Remember Star Trek from the 1960's? They could pin point people on a planet, from orbit, based on a minute substance in their body. They didn't need a chip implant. They could do it based on DNA and some liquid vaccination thingy. (Roddenberry knew what was coming.) That technology is already here but only works on short distances - similar to first generation Bluetooth. I believe the term is called Passive RFID.

I am quite familiar with passive RFID implants. And the physical limitations of the size of the antenna, transponder and range. You can get chipped at your Vet's if you like and reprogram the transponder to open the door at your condo if you don't want to use a fob!

About the size of a big ant.

You can buy them cheap on alibaba

But it has to be within an inch or so of the receiver to read it.

If you want to "track someone" like on Star Trek or B movies you'd need a GPS receiver, radio transmitter and a battery. Like, oh, a cell phone! Battery life is best demonstrated by leaving Google Maps open on your cell phone and see how long the battery lasts.

That’s why on Star Trek they could always detect that their ship was being scanned. It would take a massive amount of focused energy to penetrate and scan the contents of a starship. In other words, we have a long way to go before our movements (sans cellphone) could be tracked.

Watch this and imagine what this could do with our health care.

Of course, Canada would have to completely modify, re-invent and fuck up the time proven Estonian system.
