Urge you to see the new Austin Powers movie that opened July 26.

I thought it was hilarious. The opening sequence is unbelievably funny.

Will caution you though. The plot is a little weak compared to the first and the second movies. And, most of the supporting characters from the first two movies, Scott, Number Two, Frau Farbissena, have little to say or do, which is disappointing.

But, there are lots of laughs and physical gags to make "Goldmember" worthwhile. I think you have to "get" the whole A.P. thing to make seeing this movie worthwhile, but if you do, you're in for a wild ride, baby.

P.S. Michael Kane is great as Austin's dad, and Beyonce (Foxy Cleopatra) is gorgeous. She looks absolutely deeeelicious in the August issue of "Maxim" magazine!

And the Asian "twins" are hot, hot, hot. Kept thinking they would make great dancers, M.P.A.s., or S.P.s.

It's just as bad at the first two.Same old recycycled humor with a couple of week attempts at humor trying to put a humorus spin on some of the big movies this summer.Far too commercial for my liking.That mole bit was extremely played out.Mike its time to put this Austin Powers schtick to rest.If you want to watch the funniest movie to come out in a long while I suggest you rent Super Troopers.

I hated it and I was a huge fan of the first two...

The only thing that did it for me were the two asian twins... I love asians, I love schoolgirl uniforms...

The movie was weak, but weak Michael Myers is still better than most of the comedies out now, I enjoyed it.

This is Hollywood we're talking about. Im sure they picked Beyonce because they're trying to get some cross over appeal with the black community. It would be interesting to see how many black went to go see Austin Powers. If they really wanted to make Austin Powers funny they would ditch the female sidekick and have Austin fight Dr Evil with the likes of Ron "The Hedgehog" Jeremy.

ummm ... does the name pam grier mean anything to you? foxxxy cleopatra paid homage to pam grier's work in the 70's .... [damn. pam grier was still hot in that recent tarantino flick a few years ago ... ] and the producers said they wanted a singer that could act, rather than an actor who would sing ... i admit i had my reservations given knowles is only 20 - but i hear she pulled it off.

and more news ... sequels rarely (if ever) get better ... if you do not like the first two movies, doubtful you will be blown away in the third of a series ... and why go in opening weekend? are you pussywhipped? i mean really ... every review of the flick has said that it is more of the same ... and no review gave it a ringing endoresement.

i LOVE mike myers ... and am so happy that he topped the box office this weekend.

though have to admit - mike myers is not for everyone.

myself - i cannot understand the adam sandlar appeal ... though i did think the wedding singer was hillarious.

oh ... and maybe it is just me - but i tend that hollywood does not really make an effort to cross appeal to black audiences ... wouldn't there be a black actress on 'friends' or 'sex and the city' if they were trying so hard to cross-appeal ... ? they tend not to lean far away from what has worked in the past ... IMHO

The reason they dont put a black on Friends or any other heavily rated show is because the network executives know this would turn off their fan base,thus ruining ratings.Why do you think channels like BET and WB are on the air?To cater to the black viewers, do you see any white characters on Moesha or Family Matters? exactly.The networks know that it's very risky to mix black and white.Generally speaking whites want to watch whites and blacks want to watch blacks.Dont get me wrong my favourite show used to be Martin on Fox,one of the main reasons it worked is because it was realistic keeping blacks with blacks.They did'int have Martin hanging around with a bunch of white guys to be PC.Sure they had Shawn but he worked cause he was a white guy who acted goofy and pretended he was black.Do you get what I'm saying sweetie?

doesn't your entire thread go against your earlier theory of why the producers decided to put a black actress into goldmember ...? you indicated it was for 'cross-appeal' ... i said that was unlikely ... sorry if you cannot keep up ...

i agree - the idea was to put austin powers into the early 70s - so they could make fun of that era - disco pimpmobiles and such - and a pam greer ripoff fit into that along with having yet another "bond-girl" type for austin to hit on.

as for sequels, i agree - the only ones where the sequel was as good or better might be:

godfather 2 (some think it better than the original)
the road warrior/beyond thunderdome (the original "mad max" was an aussie low budget affair - badly dubbed for north american audiences)

Biyonce Knowles is only 20 years old? WOW!

She has a poise about her that's far beyond her years. Not only that but, she's able to push the sexual envelope without becoming a sow ...unlike another 20 year old that appeared in the film.

Watching that Bootyliscious video always gives my tiker a workout! I'm somewhat dissapointed that she decided to lose the black cap on her left bicuspid, that little imperfection made her irresistible. Still, her's was a performance that must have brought a smile to Pam Grier's face. I hope she continues to make films.

knowles is certainly talented ... and beautiful ... but i have always felt that there is something a little scary about over zealous stage mothers/fathers ... [extreme example: jon bennett ramsey ...] and her parents certainly played an active role in her success ...

knowles has been working her booty off since she was a young child - anyone see the clips of her heartwrenching loss on 'star search' ... ?
