Is there anything more reassuring than the Aurora Borealis?

To highlight how insignificant humans are, imagine if the aurora borealis stopped happening. That would mean the the Earth's Magnetic Field was weakening. We'd slowly asphyxiate while the planet turned into Mars. At least guys would go out with permanent hard ons.

The video says Galileo named the Aurora Borealis, I wonder how he managed it? He didn't travel far from Tuscany.

Really cool videos. I would love to see this. I wonder how much those luxury glass cabins go for in Lapland?

Even though Toronto has a lot of light pollution I have seen the Northern Lights right at my friend's backyard for about 1.5 hrs several years ago. It was during a summer BBQ and there were about 10 of us who witnessed it. Don't remember exactly what year it was, but if you google you'll learn the Aurora Borealis has been seen in downtown Toronto a number of times.

Here
I worked up in northern Alta. and saw the lights all the time but there was one particular night when I was in Ft. Vermilion about 6 of us went for a snow mobile ride we were standing on a ridge looking over a valley and I have never seen something so incredible as the lights that night.

I get up to Moosonee every couple of years to see friends, and seeing the aurora is never boring. Sometimes I've just laid back, watched for hours, and fallen asleep out in the open.
That's impressive Boss Nass, Iroquois Falls is as far north as I've gotten. Left with tasty moose meat and I didn't even have to hunt for it - when you make a kill it's extremely labour intensive.
