Asian Human trafficking (postitution) bust

I wonder if the Asian Bayshore place has also been busted. Always suspected that place of human trafficking. Never been there though.

What is troubling with the bust is that all the charges are prostitution charges and not human trafficking charges. I am not a lawyer but this is not good news for the industry as they can use prostitution charges and officially state it's human trafficking (more popular with the public). If it's human trafficking I suppose there are specific laws for that. Then again I am not a lawyer. May be some other Terbites can throw their 2 cents.

It looks most of the people arrested were ringleaders - they deserve it for sure. The 2 clients probably had the bad luck of being there at the time of the bust, but were not the primary target from what I can tell. This does not look like a sting of johns to me.

The articles posted in the thread in the lounge states authorities have seized phones and are looking at client lists.
It does involve many asian agencies, even a few reputable ones, to what extend I don't know.

The one Asian lady I met in Toronto in one of those so-called "trafficked" places was not even from overseas. She was from another Ontario large city. She told me she was a univeristy student, and was going to Toronto once a month to make money. Asian heritage girl born and raised in Ontario. She told me she usually makes $1000-$1500 a day and then after 4-5 days goes back home to her studies. She has never been hassled by pimps or had any bad experiences with clients. I believed her. Not sure what the fuss is all about.

I think it involves all agencies to some extend since majority of the girls are visitors on visas. This line of work is probably a no no to begin with. Just because the authorities didn't do anything about it before doesn't mean it is in fact allowed under immigration laws/rules.

I do see an exodus of these visiting girls.

So what can they do with the list of clients? Calling an escort agency is not a crime.

This is not good news for us as they have used prostitution laws and not human trafficking laws. If you get busted in such a case, where it is publicized as human trafficking, you are being viewed as contributing to human trafficking.

A Terb member says he saw a girl who was completely local and was there because she chose to (in order to pay for her tuition fees).

Personally I think LE is often involved in prostitution rings. So this thing about human trafficking may only be a way to eliminate some unwanted competition. Possibly also that there is some human trafficking but probably not all of it.

Your comment is open for debate. Does a student really 'choose' to enter this profession to pay for tuition ? Does that not make the University their pimp because they have something beyond the reach of a student ? If a student has a choice, say scholarship versus choosing this industry, what ultimately would they choose ?

You are so right. Also I would like to add, that the LE is very careful NOT to create a power vacuum with their arrests. Last thing they want to trigger is yet another "mafia" war.

The girl I saw had my number and texted me the other day very concerned about what happened. She says she is too scared for her reputation if caught and she out of this business. She is going to get loans/bursaries to finish her studies. I guess not everyone is lucky to be born in affluent families with trust funds for their kids, but some have to work hard to make it, and often they do. Reality check...

I would never go near any Asian spa that didn't have years of solid history to review, and forget about backpage ads. That applies to eastern European providers too, there's just too much trafficking from those parts of the world.

was going to post the same thing. the lower price point seems to confirm that the quality may be lower (like you are really getting a 40 year old, not someone in their 20s).
