Did anyone catch her lip sync mess up last night?? Priceless!!! Her career went down the tubes on live television. Then she had the nerve to try and blame it on her band. If you saw the show her band tried to save her but she ended up doing some bizarre dance and then leaving the stage.

She is suppossed to perform at the Radio Music Awards on Monday night on NBC. Question is will she still perform, if she does, set the PVR's.

Very surprised at SNL. In the past they always insisted on live performances and have had some amazing musical guests over the years. Guess Lorne Micheals is so desperate for ratings that he will stoop to this level.

Wonder how her manager and father Joe Simpson will try and spin this?

All was going well until Studio Magic (the technology the producer used to improve the groups voices) went haywire and the boys were exposed as fakes.

That tacky dance and the looks on the band members faces made it all the better.

Saw 1 painful minute of her first number, then worked the remote control. Terrible.

But, the state of affairs as dictated by the big conglomerate music publishing companies and their manufactured pop stars means that they all lipsync and have for about a decade, no matter what they say. Very few of the manufactured popstars have the music talent, experience and education to perform live in any way similar to heavily edited studio session. Their music publishing company owners have some condescension to quality and won't let their manufactured pop stars sing live.

The manufactured popstars are under indentured contract to appear when and where they're told, perform what they're told, and the host show, in order to get the stars and marquee appeal, signs similar contract to do whatever the music company says. Otherwise shows, their affiliates (broadcasters, TV, movie studios, games producers, radio, sponsors ads) are threatened with potential blacklist from the entire stable of music company catalog and performers.

So, it depends on what Ashlee's music company owners have invested in her, and whether their promoters can spin her meltdown. Usually, the decision is digital: she's yesterday's news forever, or they'll spin it and she'll be everywhere all at once. It's bad business to dump one of their manufactured stars, they've usually invested too much to walk away. Lastly, do not underestimate the shallowness / genius of these music publishing companies: knowing she's totally marginal and going nowhere, what can they do to get her name everywhere, at no cost. Earned media. Ashlee and her music publishing company pulled off a coup last night.

I'm kinda torn on this...i mean yeah it's funny as hell......but it shows how sad the music industry has become(she's not alone in the lip synching category i'm sure.....). I am curious though..I wonder who encouraged her to have a singing career anyway?.Was it her no talent sister who's biggest claim to fame was having a show featuring crap that I can see going on at any mall or dance club on any given day,..or...was it her parents who saw more greenbacks and figured whoring their daughter for all of america to see fall on her face was really in her biggest interest?...or was it some weasel of a manager who thought..hmmm I nailed one of em' .....mmm..sisters.....sign her now!!!
Sineah o'conner got her ass royally spanked about 10 years ago for protesting on the show(basically ended her career)....this young girl will probably be everywhere in the next few weeks.....and continue her career....think i'll file this under the decline of western civilization:the music.
