I think racism has no sway when it comes to sexual attraction. You are attracted to the gender, race, age range and body type that you are attracted to for whatever subconscious or genetic reason that you are attracted to them. There's no point trying to make yourself do otherwise.

No, you can be racist AND still be a liar. However, a lot of racists find that it is easier on their lives to be dishonest (e.g. state that they are not racists).

As for me, no, I'm not attracted to all ethnicities equally; like everyone else, I have preferences. However, am I consciously tell myself that I don't find a woman attractive because of her race? No. So, yes, I will have sex with any and all women who I find attractive (regardless of their race).

I never understood how being an honest asshole makes one less of an asshole. If someone stole from you and publically acknowledges stealing from you -- not apologizes for it or acknowledges it was wrong, just acknowledges stealing from you -- would you also think "at least he is honest"?

I agree with that, why fight your biological urges and preferences and pretend to be attracted to someone that you're not all in the name of political correctness? It just doesn't make any sense. There's no need to be as crass as John Mayer, but I'd say just about everyone has a stronger sexual preference for one ethnicity over another.

It is racism, if you follow the definition of the word. You prefer one race over the other, and for that purpose, believe that one race is superior to another.

The problem is no one wants to admit it, for the social stigma of being seen as a racist.

Instead, they want to continue to delude themselves and others by continuing their racial preference, and somehow claim that they don't have a racist bone in their body.

The bottom line is, everyone is racist in varying degrees. We're not robots.

I beg to differ. This board is the perfect illustration that a lot of what we take for "personal preferences" are informed by racial beliefs about certain races, both in terms of sexuality and appearances. Just have a look at the numerous threads whether a popular SP is a "real" East Indian, and the generalizations and assumptions about what a "real" EI looks like. Or the numerous comment about how "asian women know how to treat a men", which is very much informed by colonial ideas about asian women being naturally/culturally submissive and docile. Same goes for ideas about white women, EE women, black women, etc.

This is not to say that it is wrong to have personal preference, or that one should go against their sexual preferences for the sake of being politically correct. But I think it's absurd to believe that our preferences come from a social vacuum, as if the ideas that inform the society we live in do not affect our sexuality.

Just look at porn. Don't you see a pattern in the ways that women and men of different races are being portrayed? Don't you think that those images inform at least to a certain extend where our preferences are coming from?

Having said that of course everyone has preferences, short, tall, skinny, fat, black, white, Asian, its all good. I will have to agree with Aardvark with this exactly, and Gen's comment about the portrayal in porn of some groups, well thats porn not the real world.
