Apple was originally aiming for September. It's nice to see a OS shipping ahead of schedule.

Can't wait for Friday!

I may not be an early adopter on this, I may wait a few weeks and see how the support boards treat it before I jump in....

Apple lists software known to be janky with Snow Leopard

http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2...tware-known-to-be-janky-with-snow-leopard.ars

"Forget Adobe CS3. There's a whole swath of software applications that won't work well (or at all) with Snow Leopard, and Apple has listed out a handful of them for your convenience. Some will be prevented from loading, so check out the list before you install."

Where do you see that CS3 won't work? The wikidot site shows it as working, except for minor bugs. The reality is that this is a completely rewritten OS, removing old legacy code. For them to be releasing it ahead of time is amazing, and the reality is that all of the major pro apps will have updates available for everyone within a short time window. I'm sure there will be some apps that won't work, especially freebie software that is not receiving regular updates.

I really don't see the comparison to M$ here, especially since they are launching ahead of time, and one thing for sure, you're not going to have to wait until SP1 comes out! You'll be able to use it today without serious worry about major glitches appearing on you! lol

Sorry, but Vista was released without many peripherals having drivers released for it (ie. Epson has already notified me that drivers are available for SL), and many people had hardware compatibility issues with it as well. The only hardware compatibility with Macs are old pre-Intel machines won't install SL. This is something that everyone in the Mac community is aware of, so no surprises there.

Nice try, but not even a close comparison! lol

Ummm i have been on it for 2 monthes CS3 works and pretty much anything i use works... but all my software is recent with in the last two and half years .... yep anything that relies on the Carbon and PPC frameworks ... which apple stopped supporting 2 years ago but maintained in their OS releases will not work as anything relating to PPC or Carbon apps has been removed.
Yes switching of architecture would have done the same thing on any platform.... find me an OS with one install disc for 2 architectures .... and please do not try AMD vs Intel i am talking RISC vs CISC ..... any nay sayers have anything to say from personal experience with the OS please speak up .... but otherwise keep the rhetoric to yourself.
I am punchy today... :)

Well M$ went through some rough 'patches' on the move to 64 bit architecture. So it's only natural to expect Apple to have issues here also.
